I: I suggest you go back to see your dermatologist. You may need a higher dose of the medication, or a change in medication. In addition it's not a bad idea to see an eye specialist (ophthalmologist) for the dark lines in your sclera (white part of eye). There may be other options like laser therapy that may be helpful. Good luck. Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Yes but beware: Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid which is used to tone the skin by removing oils from the skin and is used for acne. It can also reduce inflammatory pigmentation as found in acne. Other agents such as Kojic acid, hydroquinone, and other plant peroxides can also decrease pigmentation. 2% salicylic acid is over the counter and can dry out skin if overused, so consult with your doctor. Depends: Warts grow. Usually warts are treated with different methods, over the counter, and doctor medical procedures like cauterizing and cryosurgery. The response of the warts to OTC medications usually depend on how large they have gotten, small warts are more likely to respond to OTC. Not a good idea: Try it with the face wash first for several weeks It may cause some irritation at first and your skin needs to become tolerant of it, which can take a month or 2. It may work fine by then and you won't need more. If you don't improve with it, I would see a doc then, and see if an antibiotic for acne would be a better next step than increasing the salicylic acid. Read more

Try antifungal cream: Salacylic acid is a keratolytic (what a big word!). This means that it breaks down the skin that it's applied to. This is a nice treatment for warts or keratoses. However, for a fungal infection, the best treatment is to apply any of the athlete foot creams like Lamisil (terbinafine) or clotrimazole. Read more
Can I use a cream with salicylic acid in the morning and a cleanser with salicylic acid at night? Would it be too much for my skin?
Depends: Most of these are low percentage products that have minimal direct effect. At most you would expect some drying. With these or any other skin product you test them over time. If you are excessively or reddened you cut back on the duration or frequency you apply them. If regularly scheduled applications have no side effects, this can be a good basic skin plan. Read more
