Hydronephrosis Causes In Adults
Due to abnormal amount of urine retained by kidney due to swelling of internal renal collecting system consisting of cayces & renal pelvis. Urinary collecting ducts drain into calyces which dreain into pelvis (like a funnel) draining into ureter. Causes mostly blockage, congenital or acquired from stone, fibrous tissue, growth or external pressure of pelvis or lower down, ...Read more
Stone obstruction: Which causes mild hydronephrosis can cause pain. U might have flank or abdominal pain following high fluid consuption from intrinsic obstruction due to stretching of kidney pelvis. Pain would lessen or go away with time ; only mild hydronephrosis would be seen on us. Repeat us after fluid load or during pain episode might give more information. Pain may well be due to other causes. ...Read more
Here are some...: Oftentimes, the described condition is a congenital anomaly resulting from poorly innervated distal atonic ureter, which is usually found incidentally on imaging studies for other reasons. Such adynomic segment and resulting massive ureteral dilation is prone to bleed upon trauma and to induce bacterial UTI so to precipitate active evaluation. More? Nothing serious: Hydronephrosis can be caused by obstruction or reflux but also can be normal or not a serious problem (usually low grade hydronephrosis). Your doctor has ruled out all the worrisome things (reflux or blockage). Is your daughter potty trained? Young children often hold their urine too long and this can cause mild hydronephrosis. Have her pee every 2 hours and make sure she isn't constipated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

See urologist...: For the depicted clinical profile, it's reasonable to review and compare the different sets of films from ivp or ct.Ivp to see what has been sequential change so to decide what to do next. I have a 5mm stone that is stuck in the ureter, just outside the bladder. It has caused mild hydronephrosis and hydro-ureter. I have no pain at all, just a slight "awareness" in my lower back.
1. How swiftly must this be addressed" days?
No rush, may pass: Most 5 mm ureteral stones pass spontaneously. Your symptoms are mild and you have had either a ct or a renal ultrasound & are under care so there is no immediate need for intervention. Urine should be filtered in case stone is passed. Studies can be repeated in 2 weeks, or sooner if symptoms increase, risk of renal damage is minimal. Stone can be removed later as needed.Ureter. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
If infection is detected in urine is it because kidney is infected? Can hydronephrosis cause kidney infection? Or is it due to procedure? Is it bad?
UTI: Differentiating between lower and upper UTI is not simple, and this is not the place to provide a medical course. Hydronephrosis can predispose to UTI or can be a result of uti, but highly unlikely to be due to ureteroscopy. Whether it is bad or not will depend upon what is causing it. If it was detected during a an episode of acute pyelonephritis it may resolve with cure of the infection. ...Read more
Pain on left kidney. Ct scan shows nothing and ultrasound shows mild hydronephrosis. What would cause this?
UPJ stenosis: Ultrasound may detect early obstruction better than ct, and sometime the other way around. It depends. Anyway, left flank pain with mild hydronephrosis, and no stone is usually due to a narrowing of the joint between the ureter (pipe to the bladder) and the renal pelvis (holding area for urine). If there is a mild or partial "blockage" that could explain everything. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Lithotrypsy 10/15/14 kidney & opposite ureter. Still have Hydronephrosis both kidneys. Can cause be healing from procedure. CT Scan scheduled. Thanks?
Congratulation....: Congratulate for having successfully gone through procedures as reported 4 weeks ago. Lesser dedree of hydronephrosis may be still present if it was prominent resulting from long-term obstruction before procedures. So, ask Doc to elaborate the sequence of events in the imaging studies before & after procedures. At times, a degree of hydronephrosis may persist forever after a reasonable resolution. ...Read more
