Hydrocodone or dihydrocodeinone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from two naturally occurring opiates: Codeine or thebaine. It is an orally active narcotic analgesic and antitussive. It is available in tablet, capsule, and syrup form. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain or as an antitussive to treat cough. Hydrocodone affects pain by ...Read more
Can your pharmacist change your prescription from promethazine vc w/ codeine to just promethazine w/ codeine?
Dont understand ?: They are different drugs for different purposes, so I am not sure what you are asking. The prescribing physician and dispensing pharmacists should be your first source of information, and if this is not being prescribed, then you should be getting help for your opioid problem. Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 10 mg is hydrocodone and is for ACUTE pain&lasst 3-4 h, and Opana 40 mg ER is meant for CHRONIC pain and lasts 12 h. ...Read more
A lot more : Kadian (extended release morphine) has the same pain reducing potency (mg for mg) as hydrocodone, which is in norco. The 325 in Norco 325 refers to the tylenol (acetaminophen) dose. Usually there is another number (5 or 10) preceding it (eg. Norco 5/325) which indicates the hydrocodone dose. So Kadian 50 is like 10 Norco 5/325s. Beware: taking greater than 3000 mg of tylenol (acetaminophen) per day can cause severe liver damage. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I'm looking for weight based dosage of guafenesin (Mucinex (guaifenesin) brand) for children. The product label is 100mg - 200mg for 6 - 12 years old.
See the calculation: Hi Amanda, Take your child's weight in kilograms, multiply it by 12, then divide it by 6. That's how many milligrams of the guaifensin is recommended for each dose. The bottle should list the concentration of the medicine, usually 100mg in 5ml. It should be in the range of 100-200mg. Hope your child feels better soon! ...Read more
Which tablets are weakest to strongest between tramadol 50mg, co-codamol 30-500mg & paracetamol 500mg with dihydrocodeine 30mg?
Easy for last 2: the last 2 drugs are essentially identical. In theory 50 mg of Tramadol is about equivalent to 30 mg of codeine. The concept of "stronger" is really not an easy one. Medications are metabolized differently by different people and what is an equivalent dose for one person may not be for another. In addition, codeine tends to have more side effects. Talk to your doctor/pharmacist. ...Read more
Maybe: The results of drug testing are based on finding a level of the tested drug above a standard lower limit. The amount of any drug in your urine depends on the dose -5 vs 7.5 - as well as how often the drug or medication is take3n, as well as your individual metabolism. Too many variables to easily predict. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How does 50 mg tramadol HCl compare to 5-325 percocet in terms of strength and pain killing ability?
Friend was prescribed hydrocodone bitrate 1mg/mlother ingredients other than hydrocodone, what to do?
Dont understand ?: As far as i know, the lowest hydrocodone dose in oral meds is 5 mg. If it was prescribed for an appropriate reason, he should take it as prescribed and not overuse it. If there are pills left over, he should discard them safely afterwards. I don't know what your question is. What do you have to do with a friend getting a prescription, and what exactly are you asking? ...Read more
Similar : Percocet is oxycodone, while Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) is hydrocodone. They are both pain medications for moderate to severe pain. In terms of potency the 2 preparations are about equal. However some patients may do better with one of the preparations. Hope this helps. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
There are many rules: and they are all inaccurate, because the individual differences in how these drugs are metabolized are so great that odds are good any table is going to be wrong. However, in general, codeine is the least potent of all the opioids, with 60 mg being the equivalent of 5 mg of oxycodone and probably 7.5 mg of hydrocodone ON AVERAGE. This is if taken by mouth. IM codeine is more potent - about twice. ...Read more
