I have a kidney infection and the doctor just switched me from tylenol (acetaminophen) with codine to hydrocodone. Which medication is stronger?
Hydrocodone: Is more potent, in that 7.5 mg of hydrocodone is the equivalent of 30 mg of codeine. More importantly, hydrocodone is better absorbed, gets into the brain faster, so it provides more pain relief sooner, and has fewer side effects (itching, flushing, nausea, hives, diarrhea) than codeine. ...Read more

Hopefully, taking the NyQuil at that point will hopefully give you additive benefit. I would not typically take both meds together. If your cough is increasing/getting worse, see your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
