No: Sadly not usually. You can drain a hydrocele with a needle in the office but the recurrence rate is very high. In surgery the hydrocele "sac" where the fluid sits is surgically removed so it is very rare for the fluid to return after surgery. Best of luck. During repair of a hydrocele, the scotum is incised and the hydrocele sac incised. All the hydrocele fluid is evacuated. The sac is then turned inside out and sutured to itself behind the cord structures so that fluid does not reacuumulate. The incision is then closed in multiple layers with absorbable suture material.
There are variants of this procedure as well. ...Read more

Have small hydrocele. Rarely painful. Urologist doesn't reccmd surgery. What to do if I feel pain? Is ice okay to apply for pain?
Depends pain level: Advice against surgery good provided same side testis is either palpable or scrotal ultrasound & normal. Needs 2B seen by Dr. For an episode if pain severe to rule out testis torsion. Intermittent torsion is associated with severe pain, relieved when it untwists & should be fixed surgically. Minor pain could be due to bleed into a tumor. Otherwise ice OK, but small hydrocele shouldn't cause pain ...Read more

Had hydrocele surgery June 1. More comfortable than prior to surgery but testicle still a little more 2x than other one. Does not illuminate?
Normal finding: Part of hydrocele always remains after hydrocele surgery. Fluid is drained & hydrocele sac is inverted & sewn together behind testis (Bottle procedure); some surgeons roll up hydrocele sac (Lord procedure). In both cases testicle will remain larger than other side & may slowly diminish in size with time. This explains why your post surgery testis does not trans-illuminate. Don't be concerned. ...Read more

Otherwise you would need to wait till after puberty 2C if sperm present in ejaculated semen. ...Read more

The operation is outpatient. ...Read more
