Bi-lateral hydrocele repair, how long until the wounds heal up?

1 to 2 weeks: Hydrocele, varicocele, inguinal hernia, some femoral hernias are approached surgically via a small incision at the groin. These are typically elective surgical procedures and the incision is closed with suture material that is not visible, dissolves under the skin in 6 to 12 weeks and appear "healed up" at the first post operative visit, 1 to 2 weeks after the surgical procedure. ...Read more

Hydrocele Repair (Definition)

A hydrocele is formed by fluid accumulation around the testis. In children, a hydrocele is formed when fluid seeps into the scrotum via a patent connection with the abdomen. In adults, there is no such communication. Therefore the repair depends on the age group. In children it is very similar to a hernia repair. In adults, it consists of evacuating the fluid and ...Read more

My hydrocele was opertaed in a month now but fluid still accumulating confirmed by my surgeon. How many days or month can I go for hydrocele repair.

What will happen if I don't have my communicating hydrocele repaired?

May Lead to a hernia: A communicating hydrocele allows free flow of abdominal fluid back and forth to the scrotal sac. It could also (depending on the size of the communication) allow intestines to travel throught the hydrocele channel to the scrotum. That would become a hernia. If the contents get stuck in the scrotum, that would be called an incarcerated hernia and is a medical emergency. ...Read more

I had a herina repaired with the mesh. Now I have a hydrocele will I need surgey agin?

Observation v repair: Many hydroceles are small and asymptomatic and do not merit any treatment. Many are "reactive" and occur after trauma and surgery. If during hydrocele surgery will occur damage of spermatic cord can repair this "mistake" (this complication) later or not?

If during hydrocele surgery will occur damage of spermatic cord can repair this "mistake" (this complication) later or not?

Not likely: The likelihood of damage to the spermatic cord during surgical repair of hydrocele is low. In fact the risk from not repairing the abdominal wall defect, such as hernia with either bowel or omentum that becomes strangulated is a much more serious concern. If the surgery is done while the child is young and by a good pediatric surgeon, there should be an extremely low risk. Ask for a referral. ...Read more

Have epipidymitis and a hydrocele as a result of a varicocele repair. I'm taking antibiotics. Can I treat the hydrocele with ibuprofen or other med?

No, it's just...: Ibuprofen just eases inflammation and lessens pain. But post-varicocelectomy epididymitis and hydrocele may not pose a significant negative impact to your life; then, it's probably worthwhile just to watch and see. But for the ramifying issues after varicocele surgery should be addressed in collaboration with your surgeon and at times seek a second opinion.

Inguinal hernia repair 9 weeks ago, with mesh. Postop. Edema bigger now, maybe hydrocele? Little pain still. Why? I will need surgery or is going to cure?
