Could be a fissure: Go see a colorectal surgeon or a general surgeon if a cr surgeon is not available to you. An anal fissure is a condition where the skin on the anal opening gets torn. Then the underlying muscle goes into spasm, causing pain. There are some non operative therapy which may help, sometimes an operation is needed. It is very fixable. ...Read more

Got a hemorrhoid in area between my balls and anus. How can this affect anal sex for me? It always burns/hurts when I do anal even with lots of lube!

May or May Not: The area in question is called the perineum, and a bump in this area can result from several conditions. Some are infectious, either viral or bacterial (molluscum contagiosum, condyloma or abcess) versus hemorrhoids or skin tags related to prior tears and in rare cases cancer. Any sexual activity raises risk for sexually transmitted infections, so i suggest an in-person appointment for evaluation. ...Read more

Fissure?: It's possible this is a fissure that we can treat most often with a simple ointment. Hemorrhoids are possible as well, but if your doctor examined the area, then maybe that's precluded. Without an exam, it's difficult to tell you. I would recommend seeing a physician to have this evaluated further. Common things being common, you will be fine, but should still have it checked out. ...Read more

I have a squishy lump in my anus. I took a pic of it. It doesn't hurt or anything just noticed it sticking out while showering. Is it a hemorrhoid?

Probably: This may well be an external hemorrhoid. It can be nontender unless it has thrombosed. Other possibilities include an anal skin tag or partial rectal prolapse. Your physician or gynecologist can evaluate this in the office and advise you accordingly. ...Read more

(External) hemorrhoid is painful. (Didn't try to pass stool; it just hurt all of a sudden after a lot of walking). Ways to ease discomfort at home??

Considerations...: "healing" depends on whether the original cause for hemorrhoids persists. Have you been straining at stool, have rectal dysfunction, perform an activity that increases pelvic engorgement with blood or increases pelvic pressure (heavy lifting, prolonged sitting, etc.)? Have your hemorrhoids been surgically or medically managed (& with otc or prescription drugs)? Are you sure they're hemorrhoids? ...Read more

Hemorrhoids: There are three steps to self treating hemorrhoids (blood clots in the rectal veins). 1. Soak: keep the area clean so that infection doesn't set in. 2. Soften your stool: keep from bearing down hard when having a bm so that the clot doesn't grow 3. And finally, steroids to shrink up the inflammation. Now the steroid that you need may be prescription strength. ...Read more

How long do Hemorrhoids(Internal) take to heal?I had itching recently, and today had bits of blood on stool (already had Colonoscopy).Doesn't hurt much

Can take up to 2 wks: Most important, is prevention of these hemorrhoids. Often times it comes as a result of constipation, or not drinking enough liquids. If you're using any prescription like Proctofoam HC right now to bring relief, that will get you through this healing. However, the best advice is to do regular exercise like walking, eating a high-fiber diet, drinking enough liquids, and not holding your stool in, and pooping at least 2 to 3 times a day. This would help in your preventive efforts. ...Read more

I have these purple/blue colored soft lumps/areas around my anus. They hurt a little bit and show more with strain. Hemorrhoids or something else?

External hemorrhoids: It sounds very much like external hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids have pain fibers. They do get worse with straining or if you're constipated. Things that can help include not straining when you have a bowel movement, staying very well hydrated with water, and not sitting on the toilet to read a magazine or a book or playing with your phone when you're having a bowel movement. ...Read more
