Hi i would like to know what is the difference between a 2 strain and a 9 strain probiotic.

7 Strains!: The difference is the 9 strain probiotic has 7 more strains. There are hundreds of different strains of probiotics and different stains have diff. Benefits. But a 2 strain probiotic might have 20 billion bacteria that do well in surviving stomach acid & a 9 strain might have 3 billion bacteria that poorly survive stomach acid. Probiotic (Definition)

There are several species of these bacteria that are helpful to us including lactobacillus acidophilus. The meats we eat contain antibiotics that kill our natural bacteria that reside in our gut. I take probiotics - should I rotate them or change the strain/brand at any regular intervals?

I take probiotics - should I rotate them or change the strain/brand at any regular intervals?

Probiotics: are best taken 30 minutes prior to a meal or with a meal that has some fat content. Peace and good health. Dr. Ohira brand is a good one. No need to change them unless they are not helpful to you. Look for multiple strains in the product rather than the amount of each strain. ...Read more

Are all probiotics the same as Align? Is Align the only one with that specific strain? Are they all just as good?

They aren't watched.: The probiotics are not standardized to know the bacteria stay living on the grocery shelf. While under laboratory conditions, mostly, probiotics work, the same quality control isn't done outside of clinical tests. ...Read more

What should I look for in my probiotics? Which strains of bacteria are considered the best or most important?

What should I look for in my probiotics? Which strains of bacteria are considered the best or most important?

Try for a: refrigerated probiotic, or off the shelf if traveling. Don't be overly concerned w/the numbers, i.e., how many billions in each dose. Look more for a variety of ingredients, i.e., bacteria/yeast in each bottle. PRE-biotics prompt the body to make PRO-biotics and can be good also. Then you would look for l-glutamine which does not have to be refrigerated. Peace and good health. ...Read more

What probiotic is good for candida yeast gnc 50 ultra 50 probiotic complex or gnc multi strain probiotic conplex 10 billion cfus ? Plz suggest me thx.

Probably won't help: No probiotic is likely to be effective in treating a yeast infection. If that's what you have, you need treatment with a proper anti-yeast antibiotic. However, if you're talking about "systemic" candidasis, it's an urban myth; there is no such thing, and no treatment makes any difference. Discuss with a scientifically trained physician. Good luck! ...Read more

I have CHF & started taking a 5 strain probiotic, since then my urine has a strong odor & comes on suddenly & intensly. Is this an ok side effect?

I have CHF & started taking a 5 strain probiotic, since then my urine has a strong odor & comes on suddenly & intensly. Is this an ok side effect?

Urgency: I am not aware of probiotics causing such bladder urgency. The latter is more apt to be due to a bladder infection, diuretics often prescribed in CHF patients, excess caffeine, huge fluid load or simply overactive bladder syndrome. You could temporarily discontinue the probiotic to determine whether it causes urine odor or bladder urgency. Otherwise discuss this problem with your physician. ...Read more

Hello I have been having loose stool for about 2 weeks, sometimes straining. It must be something I ate, just began probiotics last night, any other recommendations?

Hello I have been having loose stool for about 2 weeks, sometimes straining. It must be something I ate, just began probiotics last night, any other recommendations?

Long time for that: (run of the mill food poisoning) but could still be an infection. You can try Saccharamyces in addition to the standard probiotics, (taken once or twice daily) and one Charco Cap after each loose BM (not with other meds or probiotics though). If it keeps up or if much pain or any fever, time to see someone. Good luck! ...Read more

Which probiotic strain would you recommend for IBS-C or chronic idiopathic constipation? And how much of it?

Which probiotic strain would you recommend for IBS-C or chronic idiopathic constipation? And how much of it?

Please do not: Think that higher numbers of probiotics are better or a specific type is best. It safer to look for MIXED probiotics. The refrigerated are generally stronger because they are more alive. Peace and good health. ...Read more
