No.: The few human studies done on the active ingredients in Liverite have not shown any conclusive improvement in liver function. The liver does not need cleansing. The best way to support the liver is avoiding alcohol, minimizing OTC pain relievers, especially acetaminophen, watching your weight, avoiding toxic chemicals, and getting the hepatitis A and B vaccines. You often hear also about colon flush or bowel cleansing - i had a patient almost die from this. The body mostly takes care of itself, and interfering with that process is dangerous unless under a doctor's management. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Many causes: Elevated liver enzymes can have many causes- acute or chronic viruses, side effects of drugs, alcohol, environmental toxins and (most commonly) nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Find cause: Your physician may repeat this off all rx's, or proceed directly to testing for hepatitis b & c if not done already, hemochromatosis, wilson's, autoimmune hepatitis, and maybe a few others. Find and Rx cause: Please forgive my frankness. If your liver enzymes are really up, you need to work with your physician to find a treatable cause. If it's alcohol, stop. If it's a medication you're allergic to, change it. If it's hepatitis, hemochromatosis, or wilson's, your life depends on compliance. If it's lack of exercise (the most common today), hit the fitness stuff. Supplements aren't health's key. ...Read more
