Only if new exposure: This depends on the time since the last possible exposure to HIV. The statement reminds your doctor that if you have been exposed recently, another test may be necessary. Depending on the exact test that was done, it takes 4 to 8 weeks for antibody tests to turn positive, rarely up to 3 months for some, especially the oral fluids test or older (first or second generation) tests. ...Read more
My friend test std, results . chlamydia trachomatis positive, abnormal andnon reactive negative. Hsv 2 igG. 2.69. HSV 1 igG. 37.90. the me?
What's the question?: You don't ask a question -- I'm not sure what information you're looking for. These HSV test results are positive for both HSV1 and HSV2. However, when the HSV1 IgG antibody test is very strongly positive and the HSV2 result is much lower, as in your friend, the HSV2 result sometimes is false. Additional testing, preferably with a Western blot test, can sort it out. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Received 2 positive beta2 glycoprotein1 IgM blood tests 9 weeks apart. Doc won't order re-test. Does ubiquinol influence test results?
Whats the meaning of Herpes Type 1 IgG- Serum Positive, Herpes Type 2 IgG - Serum Negative and Herpes 1+2 IgM Ab Serum Negative? Thats my results
HSV1, no HSV2: The results mean you are carrying herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1), usually from oral infection in childhood, so you probably have had it for years. But if you have had symptoms that suggest genital herpes, it could be a genital infection. You do not have HSV2, the usual cause of genital herpes. I takes up to 12 weeks for positive results, so these results do not exclude recent infection. ...Read more

HSV 1+2 Serum test resut- 1.77 & HSV Type 1+2 PCR DNA result Negative. Can't understand the difference between two results.
Need details: PCR will detect herpes virus if present on the skin. If no virus is shedding at the time, then it shows negative. But herpes is present in a dormant form in a nerve and is detected by noting serum antibodies. Antibodies are specific immunity which contain the virus but fail to reach inside a nerve. When the virus sometimes comes out onto the skin it can be detected by PCR. When the virus is only i ...Read more
Hsv 1/2 antibody blood tests -- would this blood test always test IgG and igm? Hsv 2 negative -- i assume for both IgG and igm?
HSV testing: Igm is the first antibody type to be produced in an immune reaction to a foreign invader such as a virus. Over time, the igm response changes to igg. Some tests will examine igm to determine if the infection is new (recent), some tests look at igg to see if there is evidence of an older infection or exposure. The physician selects the appropriate test depending upon the question they need answered. ...Read more
False positive hep c antibody tests? I have had 2 positive tests 1.04, 1.15 and one negative test. Also 2 negative PCR tests, 18 wks after needle stic
Hep C unlikely: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, give than Hep C pcr test was negative at 18 weeks after exposure, it is unlikely that you have Hep C infection. ...Read more
2 false pos ELISA HIV tests, all 1 1/2 years post exposure. Neg western blot, ifa, naat and 2 neg oraquick home tests. What is my HIV status? Help!
Likely negative: There is typically a "window" of 3-6 months after exposure where you could be HIV positive but test negative. Since you didn't get your testing until well after that, i'd say the confirmatory tests (western blot, ifa) are what you should go by. The elisa is very sensitive and can have false positives- that's why we rely on the confirmatory tests. I would consider your status to be negative. ...Read more

What does all this mean? My herpes results from the lab! Doc wasn't helpful
HSV serology: Without knowing specifically what test technique was utilized cannot give you specifics other than to say that you have had Herpes simplex Type 1 infection sometime in the past and probably have not had Type 2, since even though you show some antibody it may be overlap from the Type 1 antibody. Why wasn't the doctor helpful? Talk to them and insist. Why did you do this anyway? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
HSV 1 positive through blood test =[LIAISON assay using chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) tech.] Index=1.47, how likely is it false positive?
My ch50 blood test value is 394 and 300 is normal; C3 and C4 are normal values; IgG subclass2 serotypes in blood test are lowi. Have thyroiditis.
Ignore it?: Ch50 is hard to do correctly, unless the value is way off i would ignore it, and it may just be up from a transient infection or be your normal. Unless your igg subclass is very low, i would ignore this as well. We pathologists say, "focus on the person, not the numbers." by the way, i attended lfhs and perhaps we know one another. ...Read more
