What test is needed to diagnose HSV 1 if patient has never had symptoms of it but is worried they may have contracted it?

Test not needed : 90% of are carriers of hsv1. Testing can be done through a blood antibody test but usually is not since 90% will be positive. If you have an oral cold sore then a swab can be done to detect the actual presence of the virus. If you have not symptoms then there is no value in getting tested for hsv 1. ...Read more
