Hsil Pap Smear Treatment During Pregnancy
I am 20 weeks pregnant, pap smear came back as hsil. Could pregnancy be the cause and should I consent to biopsies?
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Yes: The pap smear takes superficial cells from the outside of the cervix and first part of the canal. Sometimes, for various reasons, the cervical canal may bleed after the test has been done, but this bleeding does not mean that the pregnancy is threatened and does not by any means necessarily mean that there is a problem with your cervix. ...Read more
Can you tell me about abnormal pap smear during pregnancy? What does this mean? Is it harmful to baby?
Clarify: Consider re-asking and telling us what the actual abnormality was. Thanks. ...Read more
Hello, My wife is 10 weeks pregnant with our first child and, at 8 weeks, she received a pap smear during her first pregnancy visit to her gynecologist. She received a call yesterday from the doctor saying her test came back abnormal and looks to be mild
Don't panic: Pap testing at the first prenatal visit is common. There are precise guidelines about how to manage positive results. The presence of abnormal cervical cells or HPV does not affect the outcome of the pregnancy. A test called a colposcopy may be needed; it is safe to perform during pregnancy. Often mild or minor cell changes can be monitored until after delivery, when they may return to normal. ...Read more

I'm 7 weeks pregnant, had pap smear tst, the result was "BENIGN SMEAR WITH MODERATE INFLAMMATION & REPARATIVE CHANGES". Would it affect my pregnancy?
Sometimes...: During pregnancy there can be inflammation which can be interpreted as an abnormality by the pathologist. Sometimes women who carry the hpv virus can express it during pregnancy due to changes in immune response, and an abnormal pap smear can show up. It may resolve after delivery, but may need investigation during pregnancy with colposcopy and/or biopsy. ...Read more
Have had dysplasia in the past, had cells removed. Waiting for reg pap smear before trying to get pregnant again. Would dysplasia affect pregnancy?
Not at all: If you feel comfortable waiting until a normal pap result is returned before getting pregnant that is fine, but dysplasia should not affect any pregnancy. Women who are found to have dysplasia while pregnant are usually just followed closely and any treatment is delayed until after the six-week postpartum visit. ...Read more

I got a pap smear & tested for std's & everything came out good I don't have anything my pregnancy test is negative but I still have red discharge why?
Other things: While it is great to know that this is all okay, many other things can cause abnormal bleeding including cervical irritation, polyps, medications, and illnesses such as thyroid disease and diabetes. See your gynecologist and discuss the problem. A good history and physical exam can guide the diagnostic testing to give you an answer. Hope this helps. ...Read more

The doc gave me a pap smear and told me that my cervix and uterus weren't soft enough to determine pregnancy. 3 preg. Tests say that I am. Could i be?
Makes no sense: Pregnancy can not be determined by the softness of the cervix in any reliable way. A simple urine pregnancy test can be done to answer the question. If you have three positive pregnancy tests then you are pregnant. Clarify what your doctor meant because this does not seem like a very confusing situation. ...Read more
If you have a normal pap smear while pregnant, but developed skin tags in mid to late pregnancy. Could it be HPV warts?
Two months late on period and not pregnant went to my gyno and had a test and ultra sound done but no pregnancy my pap smear did show I had bv.
So what did your: Gyno say, I assume he gave u an explanantion or something to start your period and I assume gyno drew extra hormone blood tests, if there is nothing strange with ultraosund or blood work, the gyno can give u a 7-10 days of low dose Progesterone oral to induce a period and if pap shows BV I do a culture as sometimes u could have non pathological bacteria or sometimes u could ahve multiple bacter. ...Read more
After my pregnancy I got my period every month up until 2 months ago no period. A pap smear revealed i have abnormal cells, does it mean cancer?
More info needed: An abnormal pap smear can mean many things. One would have to know what the specifics of the pap smear were to help answer your question. Plus, a pap smear is just a screen. If suggestive of precancer, further evaluation is needed. ...Read more
What to do if I had some pap smear results back it said something about HPV CIN 1 and cin3 hsil what does all this mean?
Cancer precursors: HPV/CIN1 means low grade cervical cancer dysplasia or low grade cancer precursor lesions. CIN3/HSIL means high grade cervical dysplasia or high grade cancer precursor lesions. HSIL is a potentially serious process that should not be ignored. Would be good to follow up with an OB/GYN doc who performs colposcopy (a detailed exam of the cervix/vagina under a magnifying lens). Biopsy is likely. ...Read more
I had a Pap smear that came back as HSIL. Did colposcopy and biopsies. One biopsy came back as LSIL and one Normal. Having a LEEP. Does this happen?
The lesions on the cervix do not affect the whole cervix uniformly. Do follow your doctor's instruction for repeat PAP tests carefully.
For good health — Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

Pap smear and it came back with HSIL then biopsy which came back cervix uteri/uterine cervix squamous metaplasia/epidermioid met/epidermailzation?
Abnormal pap smear result, chart online says A in "Flag" category w/ HSIL. With title "Pap IG, CT-Ng, rfx HPV ASCU what does this mean? Do I have HPV?
Follow up on this!: It is not entirely clear what this line means but let me break it down for you a bit. HSIL stands for high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion. This is one step before cervical cancer and if that's what the pap said, you need a colposcopy and cervical biopsy. CT usually means chlamydia was negative. Rfx HPV means reflex HPV in the event that the pap is ASCUS. HPV is positive for most HSIL. ...Read more

Hey- 8 months ago CIN 1 in pap smear test and now the pap was good?- I didn't do any treatment- how can it be possible?- is the test reliable? Thanks
You should be happy: The pap test is fairly reliable. Cin 1 can regress and go away, it often does due to immune response that the body tends to mount to an infection and clear it up in most cases. ...Read more
My sister's dr just found HPV and precancer cells after a pap smear. They say there's no treatment but to keep getting annuals regularly. Is this true?
Yes: I'm glad your sister had this caught early. It's not that there is "no treatment"; it's simply that it's safest to watch very, very closely and not do anything else just now. Back in the bad old days, 30000 women, many of them young, died in the usa each year of cervical cancer. Proper screening & management has reduced this is to almost none. ...Read more
If someone has the HPV virus but their pap smear is normal, what treatment is available to get rid of the HPV virus?
None: It's not possible to eradicate the hpv virus, but you can learn the isotype to see if you have increased risks for cervical dysplasia/cancer. If your cervix looks normal and your pap is normal, just make sure to continue your exams as directed by your doc. Always keep track of any abnormal bleeding or post-coital bleeding and let your doc know this as well, especially of you have high risk hpv. ...Read more
