Is HSG fallopian tube test painful?

Is HSG fallopian tube test painful?

Not really: The hsg causes cramps. The discomfort one has can depend on such factors as her pain tolerance as well as who does the procedure and his/her expertise. For example, i perform all hsg's on my own patients and have done so for over 20 years. My techniques give less discomfort, for example, compared to a doctor who only does them on occasion or has only done them for a few years. ...Read more

Can HSG misdiagnosed hydrosalpinx? I have partially block and dilated left tube. Right tube normal.

HSG: Hsg is a good and less invasive method to evaluate the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes. However, it can miss certain abnormalities or make false diagnoses regarding tubal blockage. Having said that, hsg tends to be pretty good at picking up a hydrosalpinx. Hydrosalpinx will require further evaluation and possible treatment. ...Read more

Hsg show blockage in both tubes. What is tubal occlusion bilaterally?

Hsg show blockage in both tubes. What is tubal occlusion bilaterally?

Blocked fallopian: Fallopian tubes are two thin tubes one on each side of the uterus which help lead the mature egg from the ovaries to the uterus. If an obstruction blocks the egg from traveling down the tube then you have a blocked fallopian tube. It can occur on 1 or both tubes. It is known as tubal factor infertility. Your OB Gyn will investigate why they are blocked hx of PID, other surgeries etc. Good luck ...Read more

Diagnosed right unicornuated uterus by HSG,but MRI was completely normal(normal uterus).should i repeat HSG to detect any obsruction in left tube ?

Diagnosed right unicornuated uterus by HSG,but MRI was completely normal(normal uterus).should i repeat HSG to detect any obsruction in left tube ?

HSG/MRI: The results are incompatible with one another: they don't make sense. Before any further testing, I would have your doctor, or the radiologist, look at both the HSG and and the MRI, directly comparing them to one another, and figure out what is going on. Unicornuate uterus is a congenital anomaly that doesn't come and go. ...Read more

Unable to conceive. Ultrasound-possible small endometrial polyp to c/c.Hsg -right tube shows terminal hydrosalpinx, left localised spill. Please advise?

Unable to conceive. Ultrasound-possible small endometrial polyp to c/c.Hsg -right tube shows terminal hydrosalpinx, left localised spill. Please advise?

Significant problems: A polyp can be easily remove - decreases fertility rates and increases miscarriage rate. The xray shows severe tubal problems. May require ivf to get pregnant and eve surgery prikor to ivf. Would make sure you see a fertility specialist. Without ivf you have a relatively low pregnancy rate and higher ectopic pregnancy rate. ...Read more

Pls i need more understanding of my HSG result; 1. Patent right fallopian tube 2. Chronic salpingitis with perifimbrial blockage (left) ?

Pls i need more understanding of my HSG result; 1. Patent right fallopian tube 2. Chronic salpingitis with perifimbrial blockage (left) ?

Fertility testing: This is difficult to answer without seeing the radiology image but it sounds like your right fallopian tube is normal but that your left tube may be blocked. I would recommend following up with a gyn/rei to further discuss the results and the plan. ...Read more

After ct doctors concluded there was a ruptured ovarian cysts. Tubes blocked near uterus. Fibroids outside wall. would Reopening tubes help iui?

After ct doctors concluded there was a ruptured ovarian cysts. Tubes blocked near uterus. Fibroids outside wall. would Reopening tubes help iui?

Maybe: Re0opening fallopian tubes at the narrowest juncture to the uterus(isthmus) is a very, very difficult microsurgical procedure and often fails. Removing the fibroids and considering IVF is a better choice as IUI in your present condition is a non starter. ...Read more

Does HSG image abnormality inside of tube, i.e. narrowing, subtle blockage that cannot be imaged by laparoscopy dye injection? Is there need for HSG if laparoscopy says tube is open (ectopic history)

Open not shut case: If the Fallopian tube was patent(open) at Laparoscopy then the HSG concern is a "shut" case. Actual indigo carmine dye extruding from the tube itself with eyeball visualization is ALWAYS better then X-ray HSG dye study with indirect observations. ...Read more

Left fallopian tube blocked at fimbrial end in hsg test.Rt normal.Dr suggested antibiotics n short wave diathermy 20days n 1 placenterex inj daily.Ok?

Just be patient!: Even if you are trying to conceive at this time, just be patient for a good while (at least 6 mo's or so!), because patients conceive routinly w/ one open tube! If no pregnancy after 6-9 mo's have a complete infertility work up!! ...Read more

Could saline sonogram detect blocked fallopian tubes?

Sonohysterogram: Specialized sonohysterography techniques to evaluate the Fallopian tubes have been described, but there has not been widespread adoption. A standard saline sonohysterogram will not evaluate tubal patency. The imaging study of choice for evaluating tubal patency is still the hysterosalpingogram. ...Read more

Uterus wit right margin filling defect normal on UltraS. What does opacified fallopian tubes with bilateral intraperitoneal spillage of contrast mean?

Tubes are open: It sounds like you had an HSG to test if your fallopian tubes are open. From the way you describe the report, it sounds like they are. However, it also sounds like you may have a polyp or fibroid inside the cavity of your uterus. ...Read more

HSG test left tube block at fimbrial end, right normal.Doc suggested some heating treatment using electromagnetic waves and one inj daily. Will it open?

It depends on block: It will depend on whether the Fallopian tube fimbria is blocked from the inside by previous infection or blocked from the outside by adhesions and "kinking" of the tubal "fingers" The latter can be unblocked by surgery with lysis of the adhesions. The former block(internal) can maybe be opened by microsurgical recanalization. Please note that I did not mention electromagnetic waves at all. ...Read more

I have bilateral hydrosalpinx, right tube blocked, left tube with small restriction spill at the end. What is my possibility to conceive?

I have bilateral hydrosalpinx, right tube blocked, left tube with small restriction spill at the end. What is my possibility to conceive?

Low chance: You have significant bilateral tubal damage. This makes your chance of conceiving (without IVF) low, hard to give you exact numbers but probably < 20%. If you do conceive, there is a high chance for an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy which can be an emergency. IVF offers you the best chance to conceive. Your tubes will likely need to be removed first prior to IVF to give you the best chance. ...Read more

Had 2 ectopic on the right tube. Right tube is removed was my right tube more dominant.?

Not really: The reason you had ectopic is because the tube was damaged. If your other tube is completely blocked then you can't get an ectopic there. A hysterosalpingogram xray can provide you with an answer regarding the viability of the remaining tube. You are at high risk for another ectopic in the remaining tube. ...Read more

I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2009 due to ectopic right tube was blocked off. I tried Clomid (clomiphene) 6months didn't get pregnant. Hsg showed left tube is fine?

Preganancy after ect: You may still become pregnant. The lack of one fallopian tube may make this more challenging and it may take longer than you might otherwise expect. Ultrasound may be helpful to determine when your left ovary is about to produce a potentially fertilizeable follicle. You should see a fertility specialist. If you are already, a second opinion may also be valuable. ...Read more

My right fallopian tube is diagnosed turboperitoneal adhesion with partial blockage of tube. Left one is normal. Can i conceive naturally? I'm 32.

Yes, but: With a blocked fallopian tube you have a higher risk of conceiving an ectopic pregnancy. You should try to conceive naturally, but be aware of this risk, and your doctor can check your hormone levels early in pregnancy to see if your pregnancy is developing in t he uterus or in the fallopian tube. ...Read more

Right tube removed after an ectopic. Left tube and ovary working perfectly, what is the percentage of having a normal pregnancy with 1 tube ?

Good: Removing one tube with a normal, non blocked remaining tube will decrease chance of getting pregnant but most likely only minimally. Eggs from either ovary can potentially make it to your remaining Fallopian tube. ...Read more
