Zoloft is an antidepressant of the SSRI class , Risperdal is an antipsychotic but is used in small doses for severe anxiety. Prozac & Effexor (venlafaxine): Prozac & Effexor (venlafaxine) are both antidepressants, but work a little differently. Also if only on day 2 of Prozac it's too early to know if it will help your depression symptoms. Neither will eliminate grief, but psychotherapy can help you work through it. Most likely: If you were prescribed citalopram, i assume the doctor diagnosed major depression and/or an anxiety disorder. If so, the medicine is quite likely to improve your symptoms.
