I had HPV virus like10 yrs ago I was treated and eliminated it.Could I get it again and should I get the shot for HPV ?

Generally, yes. the: virus eventually clears up. However, the damage to the cells on the cervix in particular can be long-lasting and may eventually evolve in cervical cancer. Immunization against HPV protects against the most common strains that cause genital warts and the strains most likely to cause cervical cancer. No Cons: The Gardasil shot is a vaccine that protects you against two low risk hpv types and two high risk types of hpv. The vaccine does not contain any virus. It is quite safe. Not exactly: There are over 40 different types of HPV virus. The Cervarix vaccine is a vaccine against HPV types 16 & 18. The Gardasil vaccine is a vaccine against HPV types 6, 11, 16, & 18. These were chosen because 16 & 18 are the most common cause of Cervical Cancer while 6 and 11 are the most common cause of genital warts. The vaccine doesn't protect against the less common types.
