PapIGrfxHPV ASCU results negative for my pap HPV say (NEGHPV) HPV DNA reflex criteria were not met with this specimen result NO HPV test perform mean?
Normal, no HPV: If I correctly understand the abbreviations, your doctor ordered a pap smear for which HPV testing was to be done if the smear was abnormal. Your pap did not show those abnormalities; therefore HPV testing wasn't done. In other words, it's all good news: your results were fine with nothing to worry about. If you remain uncertain for some reason, contact your doctor's office. ...Read more
Colposcopy: If you had an abnormal pap smear then the next step is an examination under a microscope called a colposcopy. This will evaluate the extent of the problem and will guide the next steps in management. Abnormal pap smears may indicate HPV changes or precancerous cells of the cervix. This is not related to uterine fibroids. ...Read more
Atypical glandular cells - favor neoplastic was my pap smear test result. Negative colposcopy- & endocervical curretings result. Please explain.
Tests, tests: All tests have their limitations. First there is the data collection. Did the doc swab you well? Then was the swab transported to the lab correctly? Then how sensitive was the test? There are many different serotypes of HPV. If you are 28 now hopefully you got 3 Guardasil shots as a teen and are protected. Call your pediatrician and ask his/her nurse if you did? ...Read more
My Pap smear said negative for intraepithelial lesion and malignancy but my guns is saying Pap results were negative but positive for HPV ?
Usually: Usually the virus is not looked for unless your pap is abnormal. If it is abnormal, the lab I use will do what is called reflex testing for the presence or absence of the hpv virus. If your pap is normal, at his time, there is no recommended treatment for simply having the presence of the virus so unless there are visible lesions or an abnormal pap there is no further action necessary. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No.: The "negative for malignancy" refers to the pap. The high-risk hpv test in conjunction with is would be reported as positive or negative. Check with your doctor's office to get that result. The good news for you is that with your normal pap results if your hpv test is negative you can safely extend pap smear screening to up to 5 years. Annual exams are still advised. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My daughter asked for HPV test w/pap. Test says all norm, even HPV but then says "hpv DNA testing not performed" huh? Isnt DNA how they test for hpv?
Not necessarily: A specific HIV test has to be ordered by the doctor. Usually the doctor will inform the patient (or ask permission) before doing an HIV test, so if there was no discussion about it, most likely the test wasn't done. OTOH, everyone tested for STDs should also be tested for HIV, but different doctors and clinics have different policies, however. Call the office and ask directly. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Erosive gastritis. h.pylori blood test positive, breath test positive, stool antigen test negative, biopsy negative. what to do ?
Treat it: The positive H. pylori antibody test is not a reliable indicator of current infection. The gold standard for H. pylori treatment is the gastric biopsy, and this is negative in this patient. However, I am impressed by the positive breath test and erosive gastritis. I would have expected stool antigen to be positive, as it mirrors the breath test. Given the discrepant results, treat the patient. ...Read more
