Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection. There are over 100 different types of HPV that causes warts in different areas of the body. HPV is incredibly common and almost all sexually active men and women get it during their lifetime. Most of the time HPV does not cause any symptoms or complications. However, A limited number of these HPV viruses are pathogenic and if not monitored carefully can be responsible for causing cervical and penile cancer. Some of these viruses have been ...Read more
PapIGrfxHPV ASCU results negative for my pap HPV say (NEGHPV) HPV DNA reflex criteria were not met with this specimen result NO HPV test perform mean?
Normal, no HPV: If I correctly understand the abbreviations, your doctor ordered a pap smear for which HPV testing was to be done if the smear was abnormal. Your pap did not show those abnormalities; therefore HPV testing wasn't done. In other words, it's all good news: your results were fine with nothing to worry about. If you remain uncertain for some reason, contact your doctor's office. ...Read more
13Days after sex if i test for a 10 panel STD test of chlamydia gonorea syphilis etc will test results be acurate ?
No.: How will you be testing for these agents? Some require culture, some depend on antibody production, some use DNA technology. Tests dependent on antibody production are not likely to turn positive in two weeks. It would be preferable to see your doctor for the correct choice of tests. ...Read more
Hepb, c and Hiv1 PCR DNA qualitative and p24 antibody test negative. Do I have anything?.. test taken 21 days after unprotected oral exposure.
Hiv RNA test and HSV 2 IgG test type spec negative at 3 months. How reliable are this result at 3 months and are they conclusive?
Had HPV gardisil vaccines in 2011, 2012, & 2014. But 2 weeks ago, got tested NEG for HPV 16 & 18 but POS for 31,33,35,39,45,51,52,56,58,59,66,68. How?
Avoid the viruses: There are many, many strains of HPV viruses out there. Only 4 bad strains were in Gardasil. New Gardasil 9 has the 9 strains that worry doctors the most. However, a person MUST stop herself from catching the other strains and all the other STD's by using her own wisdom, willpower, and plain ol' smarts. A person catches all these things from others, so stick with one very clean partner. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is a high swab vaginal herpes DNA test result reliable? (Without leison) Do I need another blood test to reconfirm?
Not reliable: Any single swab test for HSV only shows the virus was not present at that moment. Even in people with proved genital HSV2 infection, virus typically is detectable less than 20% of the time; for HSV1 it's under 1% of the time. So this test doesn't show whether or not you have genital herpes. A blood test can help: if positive for HSV2, you have genital herpes, regardless of swab test results. ...Read more
Very accurate: The elisa assay is one of the longest standing tests for antibodies to hiv. Positive results must be confirmed using western blot or other tests. If negative at 3 wks you should be retested at 3 and 6 months to be absolutely certain, but those latter tests are rarely positive if the 3 wk test was negative. Be safe. Have only protected sex until both partners assuredly negative, and monogamous. ...Read more
Only if Dr. wants it: Otherwise, a home urine test works just fine. Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. Home tests are cheap and sold everywhere. ...Read more

My daughter asked for HPV test w/pap. Test says all norm, even HPV but then says "hpv DNA testing not performed" huh? Isnt DNA how they test for hpv?
4 month neg HIV test brief unprotected encounter with female is this conclusive 3 2ndgenantibodies test neg three rapids neg and a PCR undetectable ?
Probably, clarify.: The standard HIV test is first the elisa, for screening, and then the western blot for specificity. The western blot is done if the elisa test is positive. Nucleic acid tests, like pcr, are used in testing donor blood. Although the basic tests can be extermely accurate there is a chance of false negatives due to the up to 6 month seroconversion time it takes to make antibodies. See my comment. ...Read more
Is a blood test after 14 weeks of sexual encounter enough to give conclusive results on stds especially herpes 1 and 2? Had the igg tests done for herpes. Was negative for HIV, hep a, b, c, chlamydia, gonnorhea , herpes 1 & 2 and syphilis. Thanks
Why do some women never test positive on a home pregnancy test?? Not blood test. Followed directions. 10 weeks since sex
Persistent neg uhCG: The reason is unclear. Clearly some forms of the hCG molecule do not respond to the antibodies in the preg test and it gives a negative result, which is clearly a false negative. That being said doesn't mean that your pregnancy is at all abnormal with a + blood test. I wouldn't be concerned over this. ...Read more
I get tested negative on 3 week HIV blood test and should I get test again, how accurate is 3 week blood test after exposure?
3 Wk HIV Tst: Generally, these tests are 95% accurate, but you want to be 100% sure. Antibodies should appear, if you have acquired an infection, by three months, at the latest. ...Read more
Hep B Virus (HBV) DNA Qualitative (Detection) - COBAS TaqMan , Hep C RNA Detection by Taqman detection will be conclusive on 47 days? Any retest need?
No: Both Hepatitis B and C viruses may be detected 30 to 60 days after infection by antigen detection or 60-120 days with antibody testing. Direct HBV DNA and HCV RNA testing can potentially detect infection earlier, within 2-4 weeks after infection, so being tested at 47 days post-exposure with a negative nucleic acid test for both is very likely to be a true negative ...Read more
