Prevents asthma attacks. This medicine is a steroid. Budesonide is a steroid for the treatment of asthma and non-infectious rhinitis (including hay fever and other allergies), and for treatment and prevention of nasal polyposis. In addition, it is used for crohn's ...Read more
Can I use one metered dose inhaler to administer fluticasone and albuterol, one at a time? Or should I get separate inhalers?
Separate: Since each MDI device is customized to the unique product, I don't know any study showing that they can be interchanged. If you have lost one of them and it is an emergency, by all means go ahead. However ideally, one should not use a part devised for one device on another unless otherwise specified ( for example - Aerochambers) ...Read more
I use albuterol sulfate ProAir rescue inhalers for my asthma. Can I use salamol cfc free inhalers in replacement of this? (it's more affordable)
I take albuterol, also ipratropium bromide, and budosemide, i mix the albuterol and ipratropium together. Is it ok to mix the budosemide w/albuterol?
No: I would not do it, just because you don't know how you're going to react to it. Although, there are commercial preparations of longer acting albuterol (salmeterol, formoterol), mixed in with a steroid (budesonide), there is no such formulation that would include short acting albuterol. ...Read more

Can I use Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) ventolin inhaler and fluticasone nose spray at the same time?
Is Breo a corticosteroid? And when should you use breo? I use singulair (montelukast). And a nebulizer.
I used to use ventolin inhaler and they changed it to bricanyl (terbutaline). Is this similar and ok?
Yes similar: Yes both are bronchodilators known as beta 2 receptor agonists. Both ventolin and bricanyl (terbutaline) work on the smooth muscle receptors of the bronchial tube to cause the muscles to relax opening the airways. Both are fast acting but wear off in a matter of 6 hours. Check on step-wise asthma treatment as additional medications may be helpful such as inhaled steroids. ...Read more

Can dulera (formoterol and mometasone) lose it's effectiveness over time? I'm on dulera (formoterol and mometasone) 100mcg 2 puffs 2 x a day and just got a cold and need to use rescue inhaler throughout day
Not the medication: Something (eg. Viral infection, post nasal drip, smog, acid reflux) is triggering your asthma. Its presence will continue to trigger the attack. The medication will control each episode but unless the trigger is removed, your symptoms will continue or worsen; see your doctor to help determine if your meds need to be adjusted or another med started. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
No: While you can mix the 2 medications together, it is preferable to separate them. The albuterol should be given first because it will quickly open up the airways and allow the pulmicort a better chance to get further into the airways. The timing between the 2 is generally 10-20 minutes apart. ...Read more
