I had gonorrhea I took the 4 pills to treat it but I threw up about 10-20 mins later am I ok? Should I request another 4 antibiotic pills?
Azithromycin?: Probably azithromycin. It's not the best choice for gonorrhea; it's used mainly against chlamydia. For gonorrhea, azithro usually is in addition to a shot of ceftriaxone. A large enough dose (2 grams) usually works for gonorrhea, however. But for either infection, vomiting at 20 minutes means not enough drug will be absorbed; you'll need additional treatment. Return to the doctor or clinic. ...Read more
My question is while taking the antibiotic to treat gonorrhea...Does the body still continue to pass the mucus membrane to get it out of the body?
Hi I just wanted to know if the antibiotic bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) will treat gonorrhea or chlamidya?
Basically no.: Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (bactrim) is ineffective against chlamydia and there is a wide range of antibiotics that can be given for gonorrhea, but Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is not one of them. Since some gonorrhea is resistant to antibiotics, only a physician can determine which one to use. Recommended therapy for chlamydia is Doxycycline or Azithromycin with fluorinated quinolones also effective. ...Read more

Depends on how long:
Duration of cure depends on how long the person has had the infection. If the infection has not spread to the cervix or the urethra it will clear in two days of starting the treatment. But if the infection has spread it may take several days or weeks for gonorrhea to cure.
Most of the times without complications it will bw cured in 2 days after starting the treatment. ...Read more
Some will: Yes, but gonorrhea is resistant to many antibiotics. Injectable Ceftriaxone is currently the best choice, but we're quickly running out of choices because of drug resistance, with few new antibiotics being developed. There may come a time when people develop untreatable gonrrhea, which will make peeing a very unpleasant activity. ...Read more

More Rx needed: Some UTI antibiotics also are likely to be effective against gonorrhea, but you can't rely on this; additional treatment probably is necessary. It should still work: A normal healthy person drinking a couple of alcoholic drinks should see no change in the effectiveness of her antibiotics. What is the possibility of false negative Gonorrhea urine test while on an antibiotic for a day and half?
What kind of test?:
A culture is more likely to give a false negative result due to antibiotics. A DNA test is not likely to be affected.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

Chlamydia & GC:
The treatment times for these two common sexually transmitted diseases depends on the medication used to treat them.
I often use meds that are all taken in one day and then counsel my patients that they may be contagious for 48 more hours. Some meds, however are dispensed for seven days. Then the counseling would change until one is fully treated. ...Read more

I read that gonorrhea is no longer treatable with antibiotics. Now what will people do if they get gonorrhea? Does the body get rid of it eventually?
False information: Gonorrhea is still effective treated with antibiotics. What you may be referring to is the fact that some oral antibiotics which use to be effective against gonorrhea, are meeting resistant strains. The treatment of choice for gonorrhea is an antibiotic injection (ceftriaxone). Other options are zithromax or doxycycline. ...Read more
Doc. My gonorrhea is about almost 1week and I just take an co-amoxclav rafonex Ysterday & today, Is it okay to take that antibiotics for my gonorrhea?
Wrong treatment: This drug is a version of amoxicillin with clavulanic acid (Augmentin® is the main brand in the US). It is NOT reliable against gonorrhea. It probably won't cure you, but at the same time it might interfere with testing to know if treatment worked. See a doctor or clinic for proper treatment, which usually requies an injection of ceftriaxone plus either azithromycin or doxycycline. Good luck! ...Read more

Hello, Last October I was diagnosed with gonorrhea and given a shot along with doxycycline. I took the antibiotics but missed three doses during the?
Probably OK, but...: In addition to the shot of ceftriaxone, doxycycline was given both to increase reliability against gonorrhea and to treat for possible chlamydia, which is often present at the same time. Missing a few doses of doxy probably didn't harm anything. However, you should have been retested after 3-6 months. If that wasn't done, you should be tested now for both gonorrhea and chlamydia. Good luck! ...Read more

Gonorrhea and chlamydia came back, I am now wondering if the antibiotic treatments have failed or if I have something else?
Reinfection: The most common reason an std returns is because someone re-infected you. Your same partner or a new partner. If you have gonorrhea and chlamydia, all of your partner (s) needs to complete antibiotics too. There are some cases of antibiotic resistant gonorrhea, but those aren't widespread yet. Make sure that on your retreatment, both you and your partner (s) complete entire antibiotic therapy! ...Read more
