Rotavirus?: Do they go to day care? The most common cause for this is viral infection, and there are several possibilities but all should resolve spontaneously within a week to 10 days maximum. Rightly so: Try to get him to take small sips of water or a rehydration solution about every 15 minutes. If he has a fever over 101.5, seems to have a lot of abdominal pain and tenderness, or stops urinating or crying tears, take him to be evaluated. You need to watch for dehydration (not peeing or crying tears) and also be alert for a possible serious cause of his symptoms that might require surgery. ...Read more
