My 15 month old sun is having diarrhea that is light brown for a couple days. He had a rock in one of his bm's which was about 1/2 inch round with no sharp edges. Since then he's had 6-8 light brown diarrhea diapers a day, but he's happy and is eating rea

Odds: Odds are that the diarrhea is not from the rock he ate, but from some other source such as a gastrointestinal virus. If he's happy and eating/drinking well, I wouldn't worry too much. Things you can do for him are:

-stop giving juice (which can worsen diarrhea) and give oral rehydration solutions such as pedialyte.
-continue a regular diet
-watch for diaper rash
-change diapers frequently and use a barrier diaper cream

call your child's doctor if:

-the diarrhea lasts longer than 7 days
-for blood or mucus in the stool
-fever
-signs of dehydration such as no urine in 8 hours, dry, cracked lips, doughy skin, no tears, sunken eyes, irritability or lethargy

Is it ok for my 1 month old to be on straight pedialyte and does it cause diarrhea?

Short term use only: Undiluted Pedialyte is used for infants and children when they are vomiting breast milk or formula, usually in the context of a gastroenteritis, for a few feedings to maintain hydration. As soon as that is tolerated, it is advised to return to formula or breast milk. Pedialyte is not intended to be used in place of formula for growth, as it does not contain protein or fats essential for growth. ...Read more

8 month old formula fed baby is having yellow foul smelling seedy diarrhea for the past two days, no other symptoms. What should I do?

Viral diarrhea: Often babies will catch a virus that manifests itself as only a changed stool. This sounds like typical virally-induced stool change. I would continue the formula for now, but change the baby's solid foods to only binding foods like rice cereal, bananas and applesauce.

If the baby still continues with these symptoms for more than 4 days, gets fever or vomiting, you should see a doctor in person ...Read more
