My knee gives me sharp pain every time i bend my knees, would it be a torn ligament? Thanks

Unlikely

Extremity-joint-knee
A torn ligament is a serious injury which typically occurs only with significant trauma such as a ski accident or sports injury. A torn ligament will typically result in instability of the knee. So, if you have not had any significant trauma then it is unlikely to be a torn ligament. See a physician if your symptoms persist.

Pain R leg proximal tibia n ankle. Doc says ligament instability what is that? Oteoarthritis in both knees connected?

Related...yes

Extremity-lower-one_side
Ligaments connect bone to bone. Ligament instability means that the supporting structures are not holding the joint in alignment for efficient motion. The knee, leg (tibia) and ankle are all connected and if one component is weak, the others will compensate. Osteoarthritis is basically a wear and tear of the joint. If the joint is not stable, the bones rub and become irritated and inflamed.

Please see my previous answer to this question if possible . Briefly , you cannot strengthen knee ligaments . You can, however, strengthen the muscles about the knee( quadriceps esp.) and improve proprioception(balance/ coordination).Good Luck!

Dr. Alvin Stein answered:

The ligaments to the outside of both knees are very tight it seems after a short period of time of exercise or walking I lose about 70% of the ability to move my legs because of the tightness can you help?

Yes

Leg
It is not ligaments that are tight , but some internal breakdown in the knee. Torn cartilage or arthritic deterioration aggravated by activity. Consider finding a doctor who does prolotherapy to restore the stability and stop the deterioration of your knees.
