There: There are several conditions that can cause peeling of the skin on your feet. Any process that triggers rapid renewal of the epidermis on your feet will contribute to thickened, peeling skin; in many cases this problem is merely due to an occupation that demands a lot of walking or standing. Your doctor can readily diagnose a fungal infection by obtaining a skin scraping and examining it under a microscope. If this doesn't reveal the cause of your peeling, he/she can investigate for other potential causes (circulation problems, dyshidrosis, ichthyosis, autoimmune disorders, etc.). If you haven't seen your doctor about this issue yet, I recommend you do so.

Hi, both my feet are dry, itchy and peeling skin what can it be?

Itchy feet: Dry and itchy scaly feet is usually caused by a fungus and is most likely athletes foot. You need to purchase an over-the-counter antifungal medication and apply to your feet on a daily basis for proximally 3 to 4 weeks. If your symptoms do not resolve you may need a prescription antifungal cream. See a podiatrist for further evaluation.

Peeling skin: A dermatologist is the type of doc you need to see. Please do so. In the meanwhile, do you have enough oil in your diet? Also, consider using shea butter on your skin. Avoid skin products that contain alcohol. Peace and good health.

What are some good ways to treat skin peeling on my feet?

What are some good ways to treat skin peeling on my feet?

Determine the cause: Could be athletes foot, could be dry skin etc. Athletes foot often has a pattern, if you look closely there may be scaling or peeling but with small circles where the center is missing. If you have athletes foot and are not improving after 2 weeks of an antifungal cream, it may not be fungus and you should consider another diagnosis or have fungus ruled out. (a doctor can test samples of the skin.

Skin lesions: In order to diagnose these they must be seen and your medical history explored. See a dermatologist. It may well be a form of vesicular dermatitis, one of the most common skin conditions and totally benign. It would be somewhat unusual, however, to only see it on the feet.

I have a reaction on both feet. It started off as simply peeling skin in the middle now has progressed to discoloration clear and red bumps.?

Foot rash: There are 3 common possibilities. Acute athletes foot has scaling skin and little red bumps; it tends to be really itchy and can be treated with an OTC cream. A bacterial infection can also cause this, but tends to result in cracked, bleeding skin and pain. Eczema is an allergic reaction, and will have redness, skin peeling, and variable pain. See someone if it continues to get worse!

Different: Different fungi exhibit different patterns and characteristics. As dr. Fowler suggested, try using an over-the-counter anti-fungal like lotrimin, Lamisil or tinactin, (tolnaftate) twice a day. If you don't see any improvement in a few days, see a podiatrist or dermatologist, as it might not be a fungus. If you do see an improvement, keep using the cream twice a day for 30 days, since fungal spores live for 30 days. If you keep getting athlete's foot, you might want to keep using an anti-fungal cream once a day for life. There is also something called a steri-shoe, which is an ultraviolet light that will sterilize the insides of your shoes in 40 minutes. If you keep getting reinfected, you might want to invest in that. I've attached a link.

White peeling skin on soles of feet, occasional burning at night. Is this related to toenail fungus? Is it reversible with treatment?

White peeling skin on soles of feet, occasional burning at night. Is this related to toenail fungus? Is it reversible with treatment?

Burning peeling skin: Sounds like you may have athletes feet especially if you have nail fungus if it is athletes feet which is a fungus infection of the skin than its usually easy to treat with OTC creams if you can't get it to go away see a podiatrist or a dermatologist. Sometimes it will cause itching as well. Yes its reversible if its a fungus infection.
