Addiction?: Almost all men and many women have to enjoy their bodies from time to time or they'll become uncomfortable and can't do the ordinary things they need to (like studying or getting to sleep). This isn't an addiction. If you're obsessed with erotica to the point of missing out on meals, study time, work -- your physician can help with Rx &/or talk; it's fairly common and treatable.
Support: Masturbation can be necessary and healthy, it is not always an addiction. If it is truly a problem for you find a way to support your desire to stop. Support groups and/or individual therapy can work. There are lots of reasons that people develop masturbation addictions, you need support to find out what's going on with you and to know if you have an addiction. Good luck and best wishes.See 1 more doctor answer
Do you have this?: All guys enjoy erotica; the best is tasteful & respectful. Imagine folks really in love; avoid the vulgur & degrading. "sexual addictions" are obsession with erotica or easy, casual pleasure that is obviously interfering with your learning / friendships / fitness / family time / job. If you truly have this, your doctor can treat / refer you. Best help will be to fall deeply & truly in love.
Some Questions: I'm going to think of this more neutrally, as simply some "behavior." my questions then: when r u engaging in it? What thoughts, emotions, situations r triggering it? What are ur judgments about this behavior? What is ur understanding of how much of this behavior others ur age/life circumstances engage in? What do u think would need 2b different about u or ur life 2 make u feel less "addicted"?
See a counselor: Or your primary care physician for referral. There is a lot of controversy whether compulsive sexual behaviors are in the same category as addictions, or if they are part of obsessive-compulsive disorders. There are psychiatrists, psychologists and other counselors/therapists who specialize in these 'paraphilias.' There is help, often a history of sexual trauma, and recovery is possible.

Really addiction?: Are u talking about 6+ times/day, in inappropriate places, getting you in trouble, hurting your penis from overuse type masturbation? Because anything less isn't addiction. Esp if you are teens-20s. Couple times/day in private, not hurting yourself is normal, esp if you have no regular sex partner. If u ARE doing addictive stuff, try to refocus your energies. Meditation, sports. Good 2 see ur MD 2
Common sense: All young men and most young women masturbate. The stuff about "addiction" is actually an obsession that a very small percentage of men get with erotica which excludes other important things in life. If you feel this developing, get with your physician and we can help. If dad's a reasonable guy, maybe you can talk with him. Best wishes.
Could be: Any sexual activity could be part of a sexual addiction if the person doing it: can't do without it; has the rest of his/her life affected by it; needs increasing amounts of it in his/her life.
