Imitrex (sumatriptan) 6mg injections for cluster headaches worked the first 2/3 times but now not effective anymore. Even taking 2 at once doesn't stop the pain!???
Do this instead: Am rather unimpressed that Imitrex would be useful in most migraine events, and that is why we have several other triptans. Favor frovatriptan or Relpax (eletriptan) in most of my patients. By the way, you probably have frequent migraines, not cluster, as this is more of a middle-aged male circumstance. Two answers: You sound like you have migraines. Migraine is far more common than cluster headaches. Cluster headaches have a very specific and distressing pattern.
