Congratulations: on tapering to such a low dose! I haven`t ever encountered or heard of a patient that has lupus flares activated by food. When on prednisone, sometimes a diet low in sodium will alleviate any excess swelling. ...Read more

Yes it can...: Any significant illness can affect your cycle--timing, quality and quantity of your flow etc... Also, many medications can affect your cycle as well, and i suspect that with a significant flare-up of yur lupus, you recieved additional treatments. Why: Why do you have to stop the Cellcept? Mesalamine is an anti-inflammatory so if you stop it there is a chance that colitis symptoms could get worse. However, it doesn't mean that you would automatically get worse if you stop it. Cellcept modulates the immune system and yes the risk of a flare up is higher with SLE especially if you've been well-controlled on it in the past. Chat with your GP. ...Read more
