What to do if I can't sleep because I'm coughing from pneumonia?

What to do if I can't sleep because I'm coughing from pneumonia?

Sleep: You have identified symptoms of insomnia secondary to cough from pneumonia, you would have to treat the pneumonia first, taking something very sedating could cause aspiration, also you can elevate the head side of your bed.

Hello I have pneumonia and I keep on coughing when I head to sleep its very annoying what can I take. (I'm not coughing up anything)?

Need more info: Did you already see a doctor who diagnosed this? Are you taking an antibiotic? If you have already been officially diagnosed, then you should discuss this with your doctor. Some over-the-counter medicines like Robitussin (guaifenesin) may provide some relief. If not for you, then prescription meds are helpful, but you would need to see a doctor for this. Best wishes.

Is it possible for me to get pneumonia if I leave the ceiling fan on every night when I sleep?

Is it possible for me to get pneumonia if I leave the ceiling fan on every night when I sleep?

Same as without: It is always possible for you to get pneumonia if you are exposed to the germs that cause it. However, a ceiling fan would neither increase or decrease your risk.

Said it could take me a month to completely heal and feel normal from this pneumonia. The tramadol they gave me always puts me to sleep and forgetful?

Med interactions: You need to re-cjheck with an internist Re: all meds interactions. Your remicade (infliximab) puts you at risk for infections (like pneumonias) and blood in stool might be assoc. W/inflammatory bowel disease. And tramadol certainly contribuites to sleepiness and forgetfulness (which as an ADHD you don't need more of!)D

I was diagnosed with pneumonia today. I'm trying to sleep, but when I start to fall asleep I wake up by lost of breath. I'm 31 what can I do?

Pneumonia: Your bronchi and bronchioles are narrowed by swelling. Medication from your doc should have helped. Go to sleep in an elevated position using multiple pillows. Consider an humidifier.

Pt had pneumonia, in hosp for 3 days, coughs, no o2. Noticed is sleeping 15 hrs. If straight through. What does this mean? Has hospice service.

Other diagnoses?: After pneumonia, the hospital usually checks oxygen levels, and these should be normal at discharge if nothing else is wrong. Sleeping long periods is common during recovering from significant illness, not by itself a cause for concern.

My daughter is 5 and has pneumonia She's doing much better and no fever but she's sleeping a lot She never takes naps is this norm or is it the meds?

My daughter is 5 and has pneumonia She's doing much better and no fever but she's sleeping a lot She never takes naps is this norm or is it the meds?

She needs rest: Recovering from pneumonia is often prolonged. Children and adults may be very fatigued and feel weak for weeks to months after the pneumonia. Read the labels of all the medications she is taking and see if any of these may cause drowsiness. If you find that it the case, consider the potential risks and benefits of the medication and if you are uncertain talk to her doctor. Push fluids.

Can I take an Ambien (zolpidem) after taking benzonatate Mucinex and levofloxacin? I have pneumonia an can't sleep.

Can I take an Ambien (zolpidem) after taking benzonatate Mucinex and levofloxacin? I have pneumonia an can't sleep.

Yes: Should be fine. Is your sleeplessness due to cough? Benzonatate is an absolutely useless cough suppressant. If the cough is what is keeping you up at night then a better cough suppressant like Codeine or hydrocodone syrup may be a better option. Contact the prescribing doctor and let them know the tessalon is not working.

87-year-old mother sleeps 90 percent of the time; recuperating from pneumonia, c diff and uti. Is this sleeping problem normal?

87-year-old mother sleeps 90 percent of the time; recuperating from pneumonia, c diff and uti. Is this sleeping problem normal?

Abnormal: Your mother is getting over three problems, on top of any other chronic issues she already has...So she will be sleepy and one needs to pay attention to this. If not med- related, she should be getting more spry if her infections are under control. Best of luck.

It takes a while: For pneumonia symptoms to get better. I would not expect a great improvement on day 4 of antibiotics. Are you sleeping with a cool mist humidifier? Guiafenesin with dextromorphan will help the cough as will honey in water with lemon juice. If not improving any after 7 days go back to dr.

I have a cough and have started moaning as I fall asleep. I've only ever done when I had pneumonia around 18 months ago. Should I be concerned?

Possibly: But cannot diagnose you over the internet. If you are feeling poorly it never hurts to get somebody to examine you. On the other hand, if you have no other symptoms (fever, chills, shortness of breath, chest pain, etc.) it is not likely that this is pneumonia (although atypical pneumonias do occur). Go and see a doctor.

TB check: Hi. Has the infant been around people with active TB? I've had patients from your country where every family member there in the Philippines had TB. I don't need to tell you TB is very prevalent there. Is the infant gaining weight appropriately? Please take the baby to a pediatrician who is tireless in looking for the cause of the pneumonia and sweating.
