Certainly!: And i highly recommend it. Running will cause immense improvements in many aspects of your life. A 5k is a great beginner distance race, and even if you are unfit, there are many good running programs on the internet, google "couch to 5k" for example. Depending on other variables, you may have to start with walk/running, but after a few months you should be able to run (even if very slowly) 3 mile. ...Read more

The BMI chart: Age is only used for pediatric/youg adults, often calculated to age 18 or so. After this point, we only use height and wt to determine healthy vs not-healthy-wt ranges for both men and women.
