On the treadmill i have the incline on 6 to 8 and 4.6mph for 30 minutes.I sweat pretty good. Is this a good pace to shed a few more pounds?
Good exercise: The exercise is good, and will help you lose weight, as it keeps muscles in tone and strong. They require more energy for maintenance than the connective tissue and flab they replace. However, to lose weight, you must also eat sensibly, fewer calories than you use each day. ...Read more
After a 30 min fast walk how long does or should it take to bring your heart to a resting rate. How many mins?
As a general rule...: ...once you feel rested & recovered from exercise, the heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure should return to pre-exercise values. For a healthy person after moderately intense exercise that increases the heart rate by 50%, 10 minutes of rest should suffice. But I must emphasize, this is a GENERAL rule. Hope this helps some. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Of course running is harder on the joints and is more likely to get you to needing an orthopedic surgeon later in life. All exercise should be done thoughtfully and carefully. Swimmer in excellent condition, can swim laps vigorously for an hour, tried to run a 5k and couldn't run for 15 min. Is it bc of the muscle mass?
Hard to say: That is unusual as you would expect a swimmer to have excellent aerobic condition. Probably the best explanation is the use of a different set of muscles going from swimming to running that are becoming fatigued early because they are relatively deconditioned. If running is important to you, it is certainly likely you would be able to train through it. ...Read more
Is a 30 min walk as good as a vigorous 15 min bike ride with high intensity intervals? I'd like to find the quickest and easiest form of exercise.
Either: Training is used for multiple purposes. While many exercise experts and trainers advocate high intensity short interval training with frequent variation to improve strength and endurance, walking for cardiac aerobic training often aims to push the heart rate to a certain aerobic target (65-80% of maximum predicted hr = 220-age). Depends on your goals therefore. Always try to push the envelope. ...Read more
