Why is it so important for someone with diabetes to sleep on the left side during pregnancy, but it's not stressed for other pregnant women?

Not so: Women are encouraged to sleep on their left side as pregnancy progresses as the vena cava (large blood vessel) can become flattened if lying on back (due to size of uterus). Sleeping on the left side can help to prevent this compression so that blood finds it's way to your uterus. This is true for diabetic and non-diabetic pregnant women. Take care. ...Read more
