LH surge: LH is always present but spikes to much higher levels in the 12-36 hours before ovulation. It will then begin to decrease and return to normal baseline levels. What happens to LH surge during ovulation? Would the LH detector still give a positive read if u are ovulating?
Yes it could: An lh surge is triggered when estrogen production from a growing follicle reaches a certain level. Some lh surges go up and down in 1 day. Others can be positive for 3-4 days. Ovulation usually occurs 24-36 hours after the peak so it is possible that the lh surge could still be positive during or after ovulation. How do hormones "cross react" on a pregnant test from hormone surge from ovulation? This can turn a pregnant test + day after ovulation & possible conception?
Not likely to happen: Ovulation predictor tests detect lh (luteinizing hormone) in your urine. Urine pregnancy tests (upt) look for HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) which is similar to lh but not the same hormone. There isn't enough lh in your urine from the pre-ovulation lh surge to give you a "false positive" upt. The upt is very accurate. A HCG injection to trigger ovulation will give you a + upt for a week or so. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Likely the best time to test is about 10 days after mid cycle, when ovulation normally occurs. Some tests can detect pregnancy in about 48 hours, but it's a good idea to be sure. Given your results and no period it would be smart to see your doctor for an exam and tests to be sure. Best of luck! ...Read more
