Can be treated: While on antibiotics; however, I do not suggest using Monistat unless you have an active infection with symptoms.

Preventing yeast: Replacing the "good bacteria" (lactobacilli that keep yeast under control) with yogurt or one of the probiotic drinks may help. Otc antifungal creams may also help. Otherwise, doc may rx Diflucan (fluconazole) to treat yeast overgrowth. I usually give 2 pills, one to be taken when yeast appears, second for 7-10 days later.

Try acidlophilus: Or probiotics you have to take them everyday, avoid heat and humidity in the vulva- vaginal area meaning loose fitting clothes, no underpants when not necessary, getting out of wet and sweatty clothes asap.

When these species are available in the gut, there is less opportunity for yeast to increase in high numbers during antibiotic use or other conditions.
