How To Prep For A Colonoscopy With Miralax
Lots of options: There are a lot of different regimens for doing a colonoscopy prep. It depends on your gastroenterologist what they prefer. Ultimate what they want is a clean prep, so you should not have any stool in your colon when they look. You will have a sense of whether your prep is complete when you look in the toilet bowl and you shouldn't see any solid material left. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Could I have colon hydrotherapy as a substitute for the "standard" prep for a colonoscopy? Normally use enemas.
If it clears you out: The main purpose of colon prep for colonsocopy is to clean out the stool so that the camera can see the linings of your colon. The 'standard prep" works well because it has been done a gazillion times. I am not sure how good the hydrotherapy will do, but as long as it clean you out (without causing problem for you), i don't see why not! if it does not, u may have to do the standard" good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Longer test: A sigmoidoscopy only sees part of the colon. The traditional sigmoidoscopy was 60 centimeters and saw the sigmoid and descending colon. A colonoscope is 120-160cm and should visualize the entire colon. Usually the sigmoidoscopy is done unsedated while the colonoscopy is done with sedation. ...Read more

Doing bowel prep for colonoscopy/ged tomorrow. Only 24oz left to drink and bowel liquid isn't clear yet? Will this be a problem?

Can I use miralax (polyethylene glycol) instead of golytely to prepare for my colonoscopy tomorrow?
Not recommended: It would not be a good idea to use MiraLAX in the setting of a dilated colon unless you knew for sure why the colon was dilated. If there was an obstruction causing the dilatation, it could be dangerous to use the MiraLAX. I would not recommend this unless your doctor prescribes it. You should get the cause of the dilatation diagnosed. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Dr gave golytely bowel prep for colon but she will never be able to tolerate. Is miralax (polyethylene glycol) prep safe for heart patients? Cardiac md ok with it. GI said no
I have a colonoscopy tomorrow. I took my bowel prep of about an hour ago. In how much time will it start working? Will a gatorade/miralax mix not work?
May not work: A gatorade and MiraLAX combination is not a common bowel prep in my experience. Miralax is an excellent laxative but if only one dose is taken, it is not likely to clean the colon out as well as is optimal for colonoscopy. A single dose might not produce a bm for a day or 2. Gatorade is an electrolyte-rich drink but not likely as effective as GoLytely or other polyethylene glycol solutions. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
I took miralax prep for colonoscopy tomorrow..also 4 stool softeners as directed along with the broth jello diet..started the cleanse at 4 p.m. still ?
May take awhile: Hi BShetty, The bowel prep for a colonoscopy can be very challenging to take. Because the goal is to clear your colon of stool completely, the regimen is very aggressive and you may be having bowel movements almost continuously until it is just clear liquid coming out. Depending on the regimen, you may also experience residual cramping as the effects of the laxative wear off. Hope this helps. ...Read more
I had some constipation so my dr said to do a miralax Gatorade prep. I chose red because I’m not doing a colonoscopy. My colon is clean but the liquid coming out is red. It’s been several times now. Could this be the Gatorade or is it blood?
Likely food dye: If you are not having severe cramping or passing clumps of mucous, the red color is most likely from the dye in the Gatorade. It should clear in a day or two. Bleeding high in the intestine usually gives a black color, and blood in the distal colon or rectum is usually stringy and mixed with mucous and stool and the watery part of diarrhea is not red. ...Read more

I am getting a colonoscopy done. can I take the dulcolax and miralax (polyethylene glycol) at the same time?
I have drunk miralax (polyethylene glycol) all day ever 2/3 hours because I'm getting an endoscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow, but I just threw up a lot is this bad?
Lot of miralax (polyethylene glycol): Regurgitating too much miralax (polyethylene glycol) is not uncommon if the stomach gets overloaded and cant handle the volumn injested. I prefer GoLightly which adsorbs fluid into the small bowel and secondarily cleanses the colon. In spite of everything I still suggest a Fleet enema before going for the procedure. ...Read more
