Avoid it, if it is p: Avastin causes interference in wound healing. So it is best to stop Avastin if you need to undergo surgery. It takes 4 to 6 weeks for the Avastin effects to go away after the last dose used.. Then it is safer to do surgery. Yes, it is possible: Ca 125 is a tumor marker which helps to make decisions about response or lack of it. But it takes 2-3 serial values to decide if the tumor is getting better or worse; one reading does not help as it can be rising both from tumor getting worse or getting smaller and releasing tumor chemicals, which is what ca 125 is. Not a good idea: Rising tumor markers often predict tumor progression. But this is soft evidence. A more definitive way to confirm lack of response(progression) is by means of repeating Imaging studies(like X-rays/CT scan or PET scan) and compare them with prior study.
