How To Lose Weight Quickly Using The Total Gym
I need a way to lose weight quickly without going the gym. Is there any diets or workouts i can do at home?
Yes and no:
Fast weight loss is usually very temporary, very easy to regain. A lifestyle change is in order, that balances the types of nutrients and calories with exercise (at gym or not).
Nothing is free: weight, food and exercise are the only true parameters of weight stabilization. Good luck! ...Read more

Short answer, yes:
Restricting caloric intake always works. It's just so hard to do.
Most people do better with a balanced diet, perhaps with less carbohydrates and more protein than usual 'healthy diets' (think South Beach Diet or slow carb diets). You will be better off doing both the diet and exercise, especially resistance (weight lifting) training. Increase your muscle mass (even a few %) and its easier... ...Read more
Nutrient dense foods:
Eat foods that are nutrient dense (like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, low starch vegatables and water) avoid foods that are not nutrient dense (like starches and sugars, including fruit)
nutrient dense foods will increase your basal metabolic rate. On the other hand, starches and sugars impair thyroid metabolism via affects on your liver (which helps activate thyroid hormone). ...Read more
Don't have to: We recommend you joining a gym because there are trainers there who can show you how to properly use a machine or design a program for you. Exercise at home ...: Or outside. Housework and yard work can be turned into exercise if you get your heart rate up. Or go for walks. Exercise will help, but to be successful at losing weight it's important to change eating habits too, like cutting down on portion sizes, eating regularly throughout the day, and eating only until satisfied. Eat foods that will fill you up without a lot of calories, like whole grains. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Gym at my complex and free weights were just added. I'm ecstatic but need a work out plan to lose weight. Advice/tips?
Tried everything to lose weight with no luck, i stuck to nomore than 900cals a day & gym every other day, did not lose weight, stopped & put it on!
Too few calories: 900 calories is too few. You are like an anorexic and your body goes into starvation mode and slows down your metabolism. You need to eat at least 1200 calories a day divided into three meals of 400 calories each. Going to the gym is great- keep it up, but you must eat a reasonable amount of calories in order for your body not to reduce its metabolism to a very low rate and halt weight loss. ...Read more

I had an apendicectomy 10 days ago and I've lost some weight (I lift weights at gym) and I feel thin now. So my question,is it normal to lose weight?
Yes: Even after relatively minor abdominal surgery (I presume you had a laparoscopic appendectomy) your digestive tract/appetite/bowel function is disrupted. Many people just don't feel like eating for a few days. Eat as much as you are comfortable with and notice when your bowel function returns to normal. You may need a little extra of your usual healthy diet to slowly regain to your desired weight. ...Read more

Yes: No disrespect intended. Go there instead of eating. Talk to the people there are food choices, and learning to recognize when you are really hungry rather than when you simply eat to gratify other emotions or for fun. You'll lose weight and keep it off when, and only when, the way you think about food comes into line with a healthy fitness lifestyle. Most folks never accomplish this, but you can. ...Read more
