A non-hormonal contraceptive such as the copper iud would offer excellent birth control with no effect on you weight. ...Read more

Avoid depot: Medroxyprogesterone acetate (Depot Provera) stimulates the appetite center in the brain and via this mechanism can lead to weight gain in excess of 30 - 60 lbs. Birth control methods that contain ethinyl estradiol and a progestin, like birth control pills or the nuvaring, or intrauterine devices have a much better body weight profile. ...Read more

I have pcos I am gaining weight bad and my hair growth has worsened a lot also I have the birth control implant in arm what can I take 2 lose weight?
PCOS and acne: First of all, depoprovera is probably the worst birth control for someone with pcos because it is very androgenic. See if they can switch you to one called mircette (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel). The Progesterone in Mircette (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) is much more friendly and helps the acne and hirsutism (hair growth) that are so common with pcos. In general noerithindrone-like progesterones are very androgenic (testosterone-like) and bad for pcos. ...Read more

I have pcos and it makes it so difficult to lose weight. I excercise daily, eat a diabetic diet, and take birth control. What can I do to lose 60 lbs?
Diet, Exercise, Meds: Many women with pcos gain weight or find it hard to lose. Moderately low carb diets (south beach, weight watchers), complex carbs instead of simple: brown rice, whole wheat bread/pasta, less sugars, more protein, can help, as well as portion control.
