The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to go slow. There are diet plans out there that are extremely low calorie that may help you achieve your goal, but I woild not recommend it, as they not not sustainable.

Weight loss is best done with a reasonable reduction in calorie intake and some increase in activity. Loss of about a pound a week is sustainable. Check with your doc to decide on a reasonable plan for this teen.
