Not long: Most of those are very quick. Blood cultures should be drawn from two sites on the body. Unless it is very difficult to find good veins it's 5 minutes or so. The canula takes seconds to insert. We do not rapidly inject into vein, rather add it to saline and give over 30 minutes or so. It can also be given intramuscularly (IM), which also takes seconds.
