Due to a recent study, it is said that people who were victims of child abuse as a child have less grey matter in their brains. How do I increase it?

Don't need to.....: You don't need to increase the amount of grey matter - you need to optimize what you have there. Most adults are only utilizing 5-8% of their brain cells, so we have almost unlimited capacity to utilize more of what we have. You don't need more numbers of cells. You need to recruit the ones you're not using to work. This is done by brain exercise. Read, listen to music, juggle, do crosswords...... ...Read more

Which planet we on?: Here on Earth there are no human beings who leak Grey matter into white matter. Do you have a report of some sort that you're looking at & trying to interpret? The only thing I can think of that would have any remote significance to what you're saying is called "heterotopia" which refers to islands of gray matter within white matter territory. Seizures are known to occur as a main manifestation. ...Read more

What is white matter of the brain and what is grey matter?

White & gray matter: The gray matter in the brain is nerve cell bodies; white matter is the fibers that grow from them. These fibers also have a sheath covering them called "myelin" which is also part of white matter. If white matter is damaged in some way -- by stroke, inflammation, or disease like ms -- it shows up on MRI scans. Gray matter can be damaged also. ...Read more

I have grey matter lesions on my brain ... My neurologist said i don't need to go back to neurology anymore .. What is it? And how will it affect me?

Brain lesions: Not all brain spots are pathological, to our best knowledge. When spots on a brain MRI are excessively large, of certain patterns, in very specific locations, or change significantly over short periods of time, then concern should be raised. Of some concern is the presence of other conditions, such as lupus, however. Vigilance may be warranted. ...Read more
