Is the gray matter inside of the spinal cord but outside of the brain?

Is the gray matter inside of the spinal cord but outside of the brain?

Almost correct: The gray matter (nervous system tissue with cell bodies) is inside the cord, surrounded by white matter (axons: nerve fibers going to & from the brain). Exercise brain: Children's brains are extremely adaptable and very frequently if one part of brain injured or deficient, other parts of brain can be trained to do that task, espeically in kids. Thus, she may never get "more" gray matter, but you can totally expand the capabilites of the gray matter she does have! you have to train it like athletes train muscles, though, so start working on areas she has needs! ...Read more

Due to a recent study, it is said that people who were victims of child abuse as a child have less grey matter in their brains. How do I increase it?

Don't need to.....: You don't need to increase the amount of grey matter - you need to optimize what you have there. Most adults are only utilizing 5-8% of their brain cells, so we have almost unlimited capacity to utilize more of what we have. You don't need more numbers of cells. You need to recruit the ones you're not using to work. This is done by brain exercise. Read, listen to music, juggle, do crosswords...... ...Read more

What does it mean when the Grey matter in the brain is leaking into the white matter of the brain? And what kind of effects can it have?

Which planet we on?: Here on Earth there are no human beings who leak Grey matter into white matter. Do you have a report of some sort that you're looking at & trying to interpret? The only thing I can think of that would have any remote significance to what you're saying is called "heterotopia" which refers to islands of gray matter within white matter territory. Seizures are known to occur as a main manifestation. ...Read more
