How do I help the child with ADHD become better organized with her school work?

Structure/consist: Children with adhd lack the internal processes that those without adhd develop by 4th or 5th to efficiently organize their lives; this may get better with time, or not. Medications help slightly with increased focus and attention to detail, but the major success is external, consistent expectations tailored to where the child fails. Lots of excellent books on this. Green and organic: Any child can be sensitive to artificial ingredients. I think the biggest offenders are artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Can i get prescribed Adderall or ritalin (methylphenidate) if I have autism? (more specifically speaking; asperger's syndrome?)

Yes, you can take: stimulant medication if diagnosed with ADHD-Primarily Inattentive Type. 40-70 % of people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder also have ADHD. Why is my autistic 5 year old son (non-verbal), all of a sudden speaking, interacting and following simple commands? He has a cold, low grade fever.

Why is my autistic 5 year old son (non-verbal), all of a sudden speaking, interacting and following simple commands? He has a cold, low grade fever.

Multiple reasons: The best reason would be a developmental leap in functioning. That would be great, and you could keep doing what you're doing from a behavioral standpoint. Occasionally an alteration like casein removal can cause temporary advancement, but that disappears after a few months. This may hint at a metabolic issue if illness helps in advancement. Make sure you've seen a geneticist and metabolic expert. ...Read more

Would a sensory integration disorder be a symptom of Asperger's syndrome? my now 11yr old daughter was diagnosed as having an autism spectrum disorder 1yr ago. however when I'm speaking to others about her symptoms the first comment I hear usually is 'oh

Hi, : Hi, concur with dr. Rinker. Aspergers syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder. Autism, is the most impairing of the autism spectrum disorders. Pervasive developmental disorder comes next and children with aspergers are usually the highest functioning of three. Children with autism spectrum disorder usually have sensory overload which includes tactile stimulation. I recommend talking directly with your daughter's psychiatrist about how best to deal with her tactile sensitivity. One quick option is the use of a camisole that is made of smooth or silky material as an undergarment. It is likely to create less friction against the nipples without highlighting just her nipples. Additionally, pulling bandaids off of skin repeatedly could be quite painful - especially in a child who is already sensitive. I hope this is helpful. Take care. ...Read more
