Of course they do!: I've treated hundreds of cases of Staph infection and absolutely most of them get better and completely resolve. There is something called a 'carrier state' which is where your sister might be getting confused. More quickly: Drainage and smell should have improved significantly after completed course of antibiotic. The treating physician needs to be updated if not already.
