Medications, thin sk: Medications such as packs coumarin and Aspirin will lead to easy bruising. Older thin skin bruises easily and vitamin defciencies, especially vitamin c or low zinc can increase bruising. There can also be problem with clotting. Have doctor review meds, and do evaluation with platelet count, pt and prt to rule out any underlying problems. Then can add vitamin c and zinc to decrease bruising.
Trauma?: I would always be very concerned about a child with multiple bruises of different ages as child abuse has to be considered if there is specific trauma to the area, that certainly could account for the bruise. It must be investigated.

See details: Redness in the area of the shot is common and is not bruising. If it turns purple and last at least 2-3 weeks it may be bruising. Make sure the pen or needle is absolutelly perpendicular to the skin. Give the shot in the middle of the top half of the thigh.
