See an ENT: If the ear hasn't been cleaned of debris it should be. He may need an "ear wick"- a sponge that sits in the ear canal to keep the drops working longer. Also he should be checked to make sure there isn't a yeast infection in the ear from long-term antibiotic drops. Finally make sure you're keeping the ear dry until he's fully healed.

I tried swimmers ear drops? Where do I get them?

I tried swimmers ear drops? Where do I get them?

Alcohol and vinegar: Alcohol and vinegar in equal parts is the classic recipe from lakeside summer camps. The alcohol disinfects the ear, displaces the water, and evaporates quickly at body temperature. The vinegar restores the normal acidic pH of the skin and prevent fungal growth. Do not use any over the counter drops if you may have a perforated eardrum or a tube in the ear.

If I have swimmers ear. What could happen if I don't get it treated and just let it go away on its own? Could I get like sepsis?

Treatment: Why not get treated? . Ear drops after cleansing should help. It is unlikely that you will become septic, but this is always possible. Many are due to pseudomonas, you might try a solution of vinegar in water to irrigate the ear canal, steroids will reduce inflammation and antibiotics will fight infection.

The ear swelling is on the inside. I can fit an earphone comfortably in my left ear but only get it halfway with my right. Could this be swimmers ear?

Possibly: If there is no discomfort and this is not a new symptom then it is likely not swimmer's ear. It could be something as simple as an earwax impaction. A physician's evaluation should easily make the diagnosis.
