I need an over-the-counter medicine that will get rid of nasal congestion for 6 hours or so (maybe reapplication in between)?

Afrin (oxymetazoline): Oxymetazolin is an over the counter nasal spray that will open the nose for up to 12hours. However, it can be habit forming and in the long run can stop working. It can affect the nose in such a way that no other spray will work and you will end up needing surgery. That is why this spray 'afrin' should never be used more than 3 consecutive days. My 3 months baby may caught what I have, sore throat. She has a temperature of 98.6, nasal congestion and runny nose, sneezing and coughing.what to do

Treat the symptoms: It is difficult to protect your baby from common viruses and when they do become ill, it is not recommended to use any cold/cough medicine like an adult might use. I would watch carefully for fever, use the blue bulb suction to help clear mucous from her nose and make sure she is getting plenty to eat/drink. You can run a humididifier by her bedside to help aid in breathing and mucous clearing. ...Read more

Have a runny nose and nasal congestion, don't feel well but no other symptoms other then that, unprotexted sex 2 weeks ago csn this be HIV?

See below: It is not possible to say if you have HIV infection, though the risk is low. You may get a HIV nucleic acid test now and if it is negative repeat it in six months. A negative HIV nucleic acid test at 6 months after exposure would rule out HIV from that exposure. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more
