No cure only control: Melasma can not be cured but you can control it. Avoid all sun exposure If in the sun wear good physical block sun screen ( physician RX grade) with titanium or zinc Hydorquinone at least 4% may help but you can not do that indefinitely and need an off period every 12 weeks or so, Some lasers like Q switched and profractional may help. Can happen : Finacea gel is Azelaic Acid which has some efficacy for rosacea and acne but does not suit everyone. If it is irritating your skin, it may paradoxically flare up acne. It also has some fading properties, but if it is not working, you can try other products containing hydroquinone, such as lustra or tri-luma.
