Should be mild.: Cymbalta (duloxetine) does not typically cause withdrawal symptoms, but to be on safe side you can cut dose in half for a week the cut down to every day then stop. I'm trying to quit methadone, is it possible to ever completely get off methadone.. every time I try my withdraws last forever?

I'm trying to quit methadone, is it possible to ever completely get off methadone.. every time I try my withdraws last forever?

Yes: I have treated over 10,000 people on methadone, and more than 2000 successfully detoxed over my 30 years in the field. It depends on many factors - your readiness for change, how heavy and how long your habit, the presence of other psychiatric problems and how well they are treated, and your tolerance to withstand and overcome withdrawal symptoms. Also depends on going very very slowly, esp at end ...Read more

How can I come off nitrazepam without withdrawl symptoms?

How can I come off nitrazepam without withdrawl symptoms?

Depends: Nitrazepam is a benzodiazepine not available in the usa. Ideally this would be tapered in close consultation with prescribing physician and the label recommends not stopping it without such contact. The taper would depend on the dose and how long use. I found one reference to using valium, which has a longer half-life and is available in smaller increments, in equal doses to complete the taper. ...Read more

How long will i need to be on Suboxone in order to comfortably withdrawal from methadone? I want to be normal asap.

Depends: It all depends on how long you were on Methadone and what dosage you were taking. Methadone unfortunately stays in the body for a long time, so it takes awhile to detox. Also, you can have side effects, like seizures, if you do it too fast, so i would definitely recommend going slower rather than rapidly, just to be safe. ...Read more

I've been on cymbalta (duloxetine) 3 weeks and want to go off it. Will I get withdrawal symptoms or it hasn't been long enough to get them?

I've been on cymbalta (duloxetine) 3 weeks and want to go off it. Will I get withdrawal symptoms or it hasn't been long enough to get them?

Symptoms can occur: It is highly desirable for the dose to be tapered rather than stopped suddenly. The brain needs some time to adapt to the medication not being there and it is better for this to happen gradually. Three weeks would usually be long enough for the medication to have had sufficient effect to make tapering recommended. The actual taper may not need to be very long, just not a sudden stopping. ...Read more

What did you drop?: Neurontin (gabapentin) will not show up on a urine drug screen. I am not sure what you mean by "i had to drop". If that means that you used heroin or another opioid drug, then more than likely that will show up on a urine drug screen. ...Read more

Try buprenorphine.: Methadone theoretically has a half life of about 36 hours, although this may vary considerably from patient to patient. You may be a rapid metabolizer. I would recommend trying Buprenorphine (suboxone, others), which can be dispensed in a doctor's office, and the dose ; frequency customized according to your needs. How much time will I be in withdrawals for after being in a methadone maintenance program for 10 years?

Depends: on how you are tapered. The more slowly the taper is done, the less withdrawal and "post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS)" you will have. If it is done "cold turkey" you can experience severe and protracted withdrawal, which can last weeks or even months, depending on the dose and your own biology. I strongly recommend a gradual taper. Your PCP/psychiatrist can give you meds that help (clonidine) ...Read more

In average how long does 40mg of Methadone withdrawal lasts if taken for a year then stopped cold turkey?

In average how long does 40mg of Methadone withdrawal lasts if taken for a year then stopped cold turkey?

Complex to answer: Typically Methadone has such a long half life that it is tapered off slowly. Most doctors drop by 10 mg per month. That said if you do experience significant withdrawal symptoms, they usually take a couple of days to start and you should be seen in Urgent care or the ER. IT is best not to stop pain or psych meds abruptly if at all possible. Keep me posted. ...Read more

What to do if I am taking methadone I want to stop its been 2 years 105 ml a day .is ther anything I can take for withdrawal s?

TAPER THE METHADONE: If you stop cold turkey, you are going to feel like you have been hit by a truck for many weeks and even months. You will also very likely relapse to your drug of choice again after feeling that withdrawal day after day. The best way is to taper, ideally over at least a 90 day period. There are medications like clonidine that your doctor can prescribe, and you can treat the pain/diarrhea/nausea. ...Read more

I want to stop taking methadone iam on 125mg I want to switch to Suboxone as soon as possible how can it be done with no withdrawals?

Very Complicated: The guidelines for switching someone from Methadone to suboxone are complicated and very specific. You need to be down to 30 mgs of Methadone per day for at least one week, then completely off Methadone for at least another week before taking the first dose of suboxone. Otherwise, taking suboxone will cause severe opiate withdrawal symptoms. Methadone stays in the body a very long time. ...Read more
