Unknown.: Ths is very unusual but may need to see someone such as ent. They may be able to look very carefully at the tongue papilla and see if there is severe damage such as chemical burns and scarring to the tongue. If so, you may not be able to regain the taste buds. An oral surgeon would also be ok.

Not uncommon: Loss of taste and smell which are closely related are often times a result of illness or treatments. Normally it will return gradually once over your sickness. Coconut oil ruined taste buds, how do I get it back?

How so?: I would suggest you have your own dentist examine you and then discuss this issue with you. I would think that coconut oil would not be able to permanently harm your taste buds and whatever it did cause would naturally return to normal in time.

I have enlarged taste buds on the back of my tongue. They are painless but won't go away. I've had them for a month what could they be from?

Let it be: It is unlikely that there is any thing abnormal with your taste buds. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.
