Just hold it: Peritol is cyproheptadine, a sedating antihistamine, a very powerful appetite stimulant, don't take it frequently, get a doctor advice, you seem to have asthma as well, so ask your doctor about peritol, goodluck

I just want to know if I take peritol and breastfeed my 3month old baby would it harm him??

I just want to know if I take peritol and breastfeed my 3month old baby would it harm him??

Unlikely: This med is considered relatively safe for breastfeeding mothers. We have no data on it's potential for transfer in breast bilk but we do use it in children. Some cite the need to monitor for sedative effects. Longer acting antihistamines like loratadine or fexofenadine have been studied more with less potential transfer.

Yes: Both are older antihistamines. They do cause quite a bit of sedation and can cause confusion in the young, elderly and enhance sedative properties of other drugs. Action is no better than 2nd generation non sedating antihistamines, with the exception of some anxiety relieving effects due to sedation.

Reactin vs periactin (cyproheptadine hydrochloride): No they are not similar in any way. After ceasing to take periactin, (cyproheptadine hydrochloride) my behaviour has changed, could be withdrawal?

After ceasing to take periactin, (cyproheptadine hydrochloride) my behaviour has changed, could be withdrawal?

Not withdrawal: Periactin (cyproheptadine hydrochloride) (cyproheptidine) makes you sleepy. Sometimes it makes you hungry but it's not habit-forming or addictive. If you feel more alert, less drowsy, have more energy, and decreased appetite that's just the effects of this classical antihistamine wearing off.
