I wouldn't try: I don't know for sure, but i don't think you'd be able to gain that much weight that quickly in a healthy way. It is often not easy for thin people to gain weight, so 40 pounds in such a short time isn't likely feasible unless you pack on unhealthy dense portions of fat and carb calories like fast foods. Yes: Yes. Initially and for a while. The laws of physics don't change over time. If a person drinks more water, the person will have more water inside her body and thus more water weight. The more water one drinks, the more she will weigh... until her body can hold no more water, at which point she will likely get into trouble from having diluted out her bodily salts.
