Is it normal as a female to gain 10 pounds in two months of pregnancy?

A little too much: Avg wt gain is 25-35 lbs, and you should not be gaining more that 1 pound a week at the max, talk to your doctor about your weight, I always discuss that with my pregnant patients as your doc should be doing with you. Read more

In the last 3 months I have lost 30 pounds (133), I weighed myself today and I gained 40 (162). I am a female that is 23 and exercises daily, Why?

Something seems amis: While I trust your weight may fluctuate a bit, it seems like you are reporting very large fluctuations. Did you lose 30 lbs intentionally, which is possible? And how fast did you gain the 40 back? You wouldn't be able to gain 40 lbs of mass without it really only being fluid retention in any short period of time. We'd need more clarification to better guide you. Read more

Why, then how: I encourage you to work with your doctor, nutritionist in that office, and a personal trainer rather than any off-the-shelf plan. Share with your doc and team the why about wanting to gain weight and where (on the body) you want to see changes. Body weight is just a number affected by many factors (e.g., bone, muscle, water, fat, etc.). Sharing 'why' will lead to a healthy plan. Read more

How csn I gain 15 pounds im 19 female 5"3 and only 98 pounds?

Gain some weight!: The one factor I need to know to properly answer your question is what your activity level is. We can assume light activity and come up with a rough estimate. Your BMR is about 1300 calories/day and your daily calorie needs assuming light activity would be 1, 770 calories, if you assume moderate activity it would be about 2, 000 calories. You need to eat more than your daily needs to gain weight! Read more

Eat healthy fats!: If you're trying to gain weight, do it in a healthy fashion. Don't eat junk, but rather add healthy fats to your diet. Drizzle a teaspoon (or two) of olive oil on your veggies or salad. Add avocado to everything! Snack on nuts. Put peanut butter on toast or just have a spoon full of natural pb as a snack. Also try to add some muscle mass by strength training. Muscle is healthy weight. Read more

Weight: I would go to gnc or the like and purchase a weight gain product. These are packed with calories and protein so be sure to drink extra water during the day. When you reach the weight you want cut back on the product, eat normally and find the amount you need to maintain the wt. I know many people who would love your problem, good luck. Read more

Probably not: Your body mass index is dangerously low. You absolutely must see a doctor as soon as possible, and pregnancy should not be at the top of your concerns until you are much healthier. Good luck. Read more

I am 5'6 and 110 pounds, 18 year old female. I am sick of being so scrony and would like to gain weight. How? Or how many calories each day?

DOCTOR FIRST: Make sure you don't have any medical conditions like hyperthyroidism that keep you "scrawny". If that has been done, you are looking at needing 2500-3000 calories per day for regular routine activity/lifestyle, more if you exercise a lot. Try to increase the calories with healthy things like nuts, proteins, dairy products. Put cheese sauce on your veggies, have a handful of almonds for a snack! Read more

What is a healthy way to gain weight for a 20 pounds underweight female adolescent that is 5 feet 3 in.?

Calorie dense foods: The addition of calorie dense foods such as nuts, whole grain pastas, raisins, whole milk, pure fruit juices, butter, avocado, and complex carbohydrates is a healthy way to add more calories to your diet. Avoid sugary foods, sodas, and chips. Although they are indeed high calorie, they do not provide appropriate nutrition and are difficult for your body to process. Good luck! Read more

Protein intake: Sure it is fine to add a couple of protein shakes a day for weight gain. 110 is a perfectly fine weight goal for your height. If you plan to put on lean muscle mass, add weight training to your exercise regimen. Best of luck and thanks for trusting Healthtap! Read more
