A scab just peeled off revealing a pink/red skin. What can I donow to a prevent a scar and help it blend in?

Keep the area clean, antibiotic ointment if scabs are present and see a doctor if any redness or increasing pain occurs as this could be sign of infection. Once the area heals protect it from the sun, moisturizer and massage the area daily. ...Read more

Silicone sheeting: It sounds like a 3rd degree or full thickness burn. Unfortunately, it probably will scar since the entire thickness of the skin has been injured. Nevertheless, careful wound care to prevent infection is a top priority. After the wound heals, applying silicone gel sheeting (around the clock for 3-6 months) is one of the best ways to minimize the scar. If more is needed, consider scar revision. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
