Melasma?: Melasma of the face is often in a butterfly pattern but may be spotty. If you only have one spot and it is growing, you need to see a dermatologist and get a biopsy.

Hormone related...: Melasma, chloasma, and the "mask of pregnancy" are all terms for facial pigmentation that is increased by the use of estrogen (in pregnancy, of course, the estrogen comes from the placenta). There are some bleaching creams that can help to decrease this appearance. See your doctor or dermatologist if you are concerned. Lgromkomd.

Had a sun spot froze yesterday and it's gone puffy and big is this normal?

Had a sun spot froze yesterday and it's gone puffy and big is this normal?

Yes: One of the possible reactions post cryo surgery may involve swelling and the area getting almost cystic in appearance. The procedure in effect causes frost bite to the area/lesion, which will eventually heal if done correctly and cared for correctly. If you feel the area looks odd, or you remain concerned, get a follow-up appt. With the treating dr. Good luck.

Y if a path report says a sun spot would they take it out again when it grew back? What r they checking for?

Skin spot: It is hard to tell what you're doing without knowing the full story and seeing the lesion. You would think that they would do a biopsy again to tell what it is but again without knowing the full story it's only a guess.

If a sun spot turns red and itchy, may that signal that it may be cancerous? I have an appointment to see my derm but wondering if it is concerning

If a sun spot turns red and itchy, may that signal that it may be cancerous? I have an appointment to see my derm but wondering if it is concerning

Maybe: Any change in a pigmented lesion is cause for some concern, but it may simply have become irritated due to scratching or other trauma. Your dermatologist will know, probably just by looking at it.

I have dysplastic nevi syndrome, I had 2 very similar moles shave biopsied. How is it that one came back as a sun spot, one needed reexcision was mod?

I have dysplastic nevi syndrome, I had 2 very similar moles shave biopsied. How is it that one came back as a sun spot, one needed reexcision was mod?

Microscopic exam: Is different. A sun spot or solar lentigo shows the basal layer of skin cells having increased amount of pigment within them. A nevus is a proliferation of melanocytes (the cells that make pigment). Most dermatologists re-excise for moderate dysplasia or above to be sure not to miss any cells that could transform into melanoma (if they believe in the dysplastic nevus/melanoma sequence).

What is the certain time can I be exposed to the sun when I used hydroquinon cream on my face to fade dark spot? Should I forever hide from the sun?

What is the certain time can I be exposed to the sun when I used hydroquinon cream on my face to fade dark spot? Should I forever hide from the sun?

Avoid Sunlight: Sun spots, melasma and other causes of skin pigmentation can sometimes be lightened with bleaching creams like hydroquinone (hq). It is important to note that any exposure to sunlight works against you. Shading the skin with a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen (spf 30+) is the best way to help the hq work for you. You will always have to be mindful of sunlight to avoid re-pigmentation.

After I had liquid nitrogen on my face, & peeled of the scab, I exposed from sun, the spot turned dark brown. What can I do to make it lighter?

After I had liquid nitrogen on my face, & peeled of the scab, I exposed from sun, the spot turned dark brown. What can I do to make it lighter?

Bleaching cream: Usually this type of postinflammatory hyperpgimentation will fade over time as long as you protect it from the sun. If this doesn't help, then a mild bleaching cream may be helpful. It is called hydroquinone and is only available by prescription. See a dermatologist and they can help you.

I hav got black spot in my face. Hand and neck. I mean sun exposed areas. I think its melanosis. Wat should I do?

Use sun screen: If the lesions are due to exposure to sun, these should be amenable to fading if you use sun screen. A wide brimmed hat and sun screen lotion on the hands and neck would be worth a try.

How to clear sun spots from my face? Thanks!! :)

How to clear sun spots from my face? Thanks!! :)

Sun Spots: It is hard to know what you mean by sun spots via email without seeing them. Age may play a role. Sun spots reflect damage done to your skin ~20 years ago. There are treatments that can decrease them but rarely completely remove them. Spots caused by the sun can be related to skin cancer. If spots are irregular, large, multi-colored, raised or bleed easily, see a Dermatology right away

My face has developed pink and white spots after bring in the sun. Why is this and when will it go away?

Sun damage: This is due most likely to sun damage. If you are not compulsive about using sun screens it will only get worse. Take better care of your skin and the damage can heal over time.
