No way to know: Lupus is an autoimmune disease that involves an abnormal immune system that attacks self.Although we know that changes in some genes may put you at increased risk for lupus,we can't predict when it will develop, if ever, since the immune system is hit with many potential environmental triggers throughout life.Unlikely lupus began then was dormant since lupus won't go into remission until treated ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can Swab test result prove whether a child has an infection, like influenza? Can it also done in adult and to find other medical issue with someone?
Nasal swab: There is a nasal swab test for influenza. It is not incredibly reliable (meaning it can be negative but still have the flu). These tests are specific in what they test for - I'm not sure what "other medical issue" you want to rule out but a flu swab isn't going to be the test to do it. ...Read more
I agree with all.: Dr. Rothwell gave you good advice on re-framing this as a parent-child interaction problem. Knowing (s)he's a "problem" diminishes self-esteem & makes a child think, "If I'm gonna wear the name, I'm gonna play the game." Catch'em being good; rewarding behaviors you want is 10 x more effective than ignoring behaviors you don't want. Ignoring a behavior is the only way to make it go away. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Iim close to thirty. My half body parts are adult size and some half are like child size. I look abnormal. My size is hard to find anywhere.
See your doctor...: Have you been to a doctor since puberty? It would be abnormal to have half of your body remain "child sized" & the other half grow normally. It is hard to imagine that if your appearance is as dramatically imbalanced as your description that it wasn't noted by a physician in previous exams. See your doctor to evaluate your concerns and determine if any medical workup for cause needs to be done. ...Read more
Contact coordinator: There are centers that now look into coordinating the daisy chain or round robin system of donation. I would contact the transplant coordinator in your local & see if such a process might be arranged. There are many privacy & other issues that must be overcome for a center to participate, but it never hurts to ask. ...Read more

We have a child thats 9 and she has downs she got choked a week ago and want eat we have tryed everything we can think of we took her to the hospita and they diddnt find anything any suggestion on how we can get her to eat
Children : Children with down syndrome have issues of low muscle tone which can affect their ability to chew and swallow foods effectively. If she recently had an episode of choking on food, this very well may have shaken her confidence, making her feel scared to try certain foods at this point. The best strategy at this point is probably to have her seen by her pediatrician and likely a pediatric speech therapist who can help guide you in getting her back on the road to safe and effective eating. The assessment would likely include a careful assessment of her swallowing skills and recommendations as to where she can safely and confidently begin. Recommendations may be made such as for thickening of liquids or keeping solid foods to certain consistencies to make it easier to swallow them. The most important point is not to force feed the child as this will end up having the reverse effect of making her feel less safe and more fearful of eating. ...Read more
